Any thoughts?

I wonder how many coaches will copy it or do their own variation of it. I see it as a replacement for creeping.

Probably going to start teaching my MS team this next week. It's not new by any means, but interesting having the science to explain it.

Until the labcoats explained it to me I thought they were trying to distract the batter.

At this point we won't be making the switch. My concern is the energy put into the jump. This may work for Auburn who plays 1 game a day, but would they use if they were playing 5 games on a Sunday? Or for example do I want one of my pitchers spending 2 games hopping at 1st before pitching game 3?

I will be watching though. I'm sure plenty of teams will be hopping this spring.

Interesting about the stretching of the muscles. DS ran track his freshman year, and it was common for sprinters to hop while preparing for a race. They usually jumped higher, and often several times.

Makes a lot of sense. I am not sure if it is the best move to attack a ball over the fielders head when you need to immediately drop step. I would have to fool with that a bit.
