Nike Phenom Softball - anyone heard of this?

This might seem like a strange request but just curious if anyone on this board has heard of, or is a part of, a softball program affiliated with the Nike Phenom organization? They have a very strong presence is baseball in several states and there has been a recent buzz in our area with some folks advertising under Nike Phenom Softball.

I am just trying to figure out if what they are promising and promoting is legit or not or just wishful thinking!

Guess no one has.

I have seen them in our area post tryouts and later cancel having no team for that season. Or at least that's how it appeared. Now they are advertising again for all age groups meaning they don't have any teams and are trying to form new ones. We know how difficult that is.

They did contact a couple players I used to coach. What they promised those players and what they advertise on the forums are not the same things. They are promising the moon to players that played C ball last fall.

Like all the startups well see if they hold to their promises and make it or if they do not keep their promises and disband. Softball is a small unforgiving community.

They are not sponsored by Nike.

The guy that tried to start it up in my area ended up getting busted for stealing money from people on the baseball side.

What was even worse about the KC situation is that a lot of us tried to get the word out that some of the coaches that were reported to be involved had very poor reputations regarding their coaching abilities and money handling. I believe that all of the softball teams they reported to have folded before the season started and most of the baseball teams, also.

The parent organization bills them self and a national group in 11 states, but when confronted about the issues in KC they refused to get involved or take any responsibility to help the families recover their money.
