Has anyone used a GoPro and LynkSpyder to film entire softball games? I was wondering how it worked out and if umpires ever had an issues with attaching that to the backstop? Thx

I have never done it personally, but have seen it done on numerous occasions. I have never heard an umpire complain because the camera is technically outside the fence. Josh has done some research on the different GoPro models and they are not all the same and will produce different results, so know what you are looking for before you purchase one.

We film every game, because we are crazy 10U parents. Nobody has ever complained. We have the Hero 4 Silver. Night games are so so but day games come out great.

We already film the game from centerfield with a focus on pitcher/hitters only. I'm looking for more of a birds eye view of the entire game with the go pro. I did some minor research and was thinking about the GoPro hero +LCD. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. This is at the high school level, so I'm wondering if attaching something to the fence will be an issue......

Thx for all of the responses

I've had umpires ask me to send them the link to our YouTube site after I post the video so they can see what their strike zone looks like to others.

I have a Go Pro knockoff and the LynkSpyder and haven't experienced any problems with the umps about it. Have a few games recorded thus far. Looking forward to 1,000s more.

we record all games, for 2 years now, ive had umps look at it funny but never had anyone ask to take it down. I did make sure I turned off the blinking lights that come on when you use the default settings, could be distracting and an excuse to make you take it down. I have had other teams ask me what it is, what do you do with it

I do it too, no ump issues. HERO 4, external battery pack for "just in case," and a Mophie for my iPhone to control the camera. Love the LynkSpyder.

Edit: The Mophie is a battery extender and not necessary to controling the camera, just useful on long days.
