We picked up this year for PCB. I live in Georgia but it was still really hot and humid. Worth it though. They had a lot of fun though I think the beach distracted them from the softball. Great experience though. I'm not sure what my team is doing this year. We shall see.

First off no one should scoff at your for playing this tournament. Some might questions playing in FLA in Aug, but enjoy it.

There is so much do to in that area that it might be hard to get all team members on the same page as far as what to do. Some might want
to do Disney others will want to do Universal. I loved the Space Center when we went last year. Not sure where you are from or what Utrip
requires for Hotel stays, but I would look into some house rentals if they don't require you to pick their hotels and try and look at this years
tournaments to see how many games you will play a day. Some of these national events have a game or 2 early on and then load up at the end.

Enjoy it.

I have had teams that did USSSA in Orlando and USFA in PCB! Both were fun trips for 10s and 12s! The families enjoyed it and the competition was good. The cost for families to get into the fields at ESPN were high and bring a wagon to carry equipment because those fields are a mush from the parking lots!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. We're looking forward to it as a team.
Of course we want the families to go and enjoy the trip as a vacation, but let's face it, we are a softball team and will be there to play softball.

Several of the mid-level club programs in my area play U-trip regional WS or the Disney WS. They’d solid B+ A- caliber teams. Parents I’ve talked to all have a great time at both. It’s nothing to scoff at, but I have had to bite my tongue when they equate it to PGF or ASA Nationals. They faced good competition, they had fun, their kids had fun and that’s all that matters.

My dd's TB team won the World Series one year. We had a great time. Her team played exceptional ball. DD had a fantastic tournament.

Overall USSSA and USFA cannot hold a candle to PGA and ASA, but there are a couple of teams there who could hold their own with the big boys. The difference is anyone who wants to play USFA and USSSA is welcomed, so you will have B- to A+ level teams in the open divisions. Heck, even ASA has some teams that make you wonder how they earned a berth....

As a whole, our team has never been to a major national tournament at any level. So, we are looking forward to it getting our feet wet. That is the experience we are looking for.
We are sprinkling a couple PGF tournaments this year and next year plan to play even more.
This year we are playing a schedule heavy with USSSA tournaments, but rather than playing mostly local tournaments we are focusing on those in bigger metro areas in order to improve our competition level.
At a time when many of the above average players in our area are joining "exposure" teams, we are trying to grow our program. Rather than jumping in with both feet, we are trying to make a transition into major play. I think by capping our youthful time in softball with a trip to Orlando will be both fun and beneficial.
