For all the dds who change their minds about playing college ball but still want to play fast pitch. My dd is loving club softball. It's real fast pitch without the commitment of playing for the college. Of the 15 girls on my dds team I would guess that all of them could have played college somewhere. In fact a few of them did. 3 practices a week triple headers some weekends some tourneys and the chance to play in a national championship in the spring.

It's been a great experience for my dd. she just signed a lease for an off campus apartment for next year with the other 2 pitchers.

Yep, mine had serious looks from a lot of D-1 schools, no certainty on numbers or playtime. Going to a DII a former National Champion. Coaches said they are rebuilding for another big run a National Championship released most of team from scholarships and is going young. She is super excited to have the chance to make an impact as a Freshman and play everyday. More excited about making that run. National Championship is just that no matter what the level.

Choose her school for love of the school and the degree not ball.

IML, just hoping your dd is as nuts as mine! One bad game and she "never liked the sport anyway". One good hit and she's ready to call the Tuscaloosa Mercedes dealer to tell them what color benzo she will require to play at Bama.

I hear you, I'm Learning. My DD went along a similar path. She received a few offers from D3 schools - one which I, personally, was pretty excited about. I thought that a small school with a little bit of everything sounded great. I played my sport at a big school and often felt unhinged; I thought a small school would be just the ticket for DD, with softball to keep her grounded.

DD feels otherwise - she turned down all of her offers and is going her own path, without softball. She is applying to several schools, all big. She is applying to a very competitive program at her dream school, so now I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that!

DD's senior season for high school softball (in the fall here) was magical. She played with so much joy and really embraced her leadership role on the team. I'm still hoping that DD will follow in China's daughter's footsteps and play club - because I think she'll like it and will enjoy being part of a team. But anyway, we're about 3 weeks out from the end of her "career". I am surprisingly fine with it. Years of competitive softball gave us a family culture of spending time together. DD and DH have spent a lot of time together over the years and DD has learned to seek out her dad's advice - about softball and now about everything else under the sun. So it's all good - even though it's over I'm glad that softball has been a part of our lives.

Thank you all so much for the PM's and replies to the thread. I've been slammed at work and haven't been able to be on here much. I wanted to give you all an interesting update. DD received an email from the one top notch D2 schools yesterday saying they were still interested in her and still have money available and she should come and stay with the team. She said she's already made up her mind and didn't want to talk about it... I of course said, you have nothing to lose by going. I've never seen her give up on anything. That was the end of the discussion but I decided to call the University to see why she had never heard from them about her application. I actually talked to the head of admissions and he apologized that the person reviewing her file was out of town for awhile and it's been held up. He had me hold while he reviewed her file and said, "well, she's been accepted but the official letter won't be mailed until next Friday." He also then said, she's also been awarded a very large academic scholarship! The scholarship is over 60% of the tuition and she could potentially get some athletic monies also because they have some left for 2016's.
My wife and I are thrilled but not sure what to do. I want DD to open the acceptance letter and experience that, but on the other hand, if she knew, she may get excited to stay overnight and workout with the team in 2 weeks. We'd also need to get a hotel for a couple nights also. That's where we are at. Any thoughts?
