With the battery back up we had NO problem even with an all day tournament. Never even had to use the extra battery we have. And the entire day, 5 games, barely even drained the back up at all. That thing is awesome (if you got the one I messaged you about or something similar). I think we use the regular width and it gets the whole field. We usually put it just right or left of home plate, on the backstop, so that we can see the batter and pitcher. If you put it right behind, you often get a lot of umpire back instead. One thing we have not figured out yet is the best way to film night games. The quality isn't as good, more blurry, the lights seem very bright. I'm not sure if there's a setting for that but we haven't figured it out if there is.

Got my new toy (*ahem* I mean my DD's much needed tool for her development *ahem*) in the mail yesterday and the LynkSpyder will be arriving today. I'm curious to know how the lefty batters look on the video if you place the video behind the right handed batter?

Back on the dirt...
Yes grc, I got the same battery pack. I was going to pm and ask how you connect it with the housing on? We have two in a row Saturday morning then a 2 hour break so I was just planning on charging the stock battery after the first games for now. Thanks for the suggestions!

Dod, if you have a lefty batter, I believe it is recommended to use the let side of the plate. Just depends on what is your main focus of the video. Got that from lynkspyder video though so maybe someone else will have actual experience.

She's a righty, but I want to share video with other parents on the team and we have 4 lefties.

I got my setup ready. Went with the GoPro hero 4 LCD, added the battery pack, lynkspyder, and tool pouch. Tourney tomorrow so I'm excited to try it out! So far it's very easy to use.

What various settings are you using to get the most out of the battery and memory? Frame speed, width, lighting etc.

Thanks

I know we talked in an email, but thought I would update the group on the settings we recommend:
Resolution: 1080p (non-Superview)
Frames Per Second: 60
Field Of View: Medium (to start with....adjust as needed(
Beeps: Off
LEDs: Off

If the camera is mounted low, it will be tricky to get a shot of both lefty and righty batters. However, the higher you place the camera, the better chance you have of seeing both.

Hero 4 Session

....and in related news, given the recent price drop of the GoPro Hero 4 Session (from $399 to $299) it is now a somewhat more justifiable device for us to possibly recommend to our customers. We will be testing it out this weekend, side by side with our Hero 4 Silver and will be comparing results. As far as compatibility goes, it fits great. In fact, since the center of the lens is in line with the center of the tripod mount, you will have more adjustment available to center the device on the fence (and it helps my OCD). More to follow....

By seeing both, you mean at the moment of impact, right? When the ball crosses the plate?
