Marquee organizations are Impact, Vipers and Bullets in that order. Good teams to be on at 16U for recruiting. Lots of tier 2 organizations for low A/high B.

Thanks for this info. I have heard about the Vipers for years, but didn't know anything about the Impact. Will keep my eyes open this year.

We are out of Birmingham but spent most of our spring season in Ga to play the 02 teams while our 02's were in school ball. We actually played in the Atlanta area about 5 times a year beginning in 10U because of the concentration of good teams. The top tournaments in metro Atlanta draw the best teams from Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, and the Carolina's.

We will be over there for the Atlanta Fastpitch Classic in mid October which has become probably the biggest fall tournament for our age in the south. It will be a good chance to see the top 12U teams compete and see where teams stand going into the spring.

Good luck with your new team. You will definitely get to see some great ball played this year.

School plays in spring in AL? Isn't it weird how some states play in Fall and some in Spring?

Just saw you last post. Definitely keep an eye out for the Impact 03. They are a very solid team and well coached and play with class. The Vipers are a scrappy bunch that play the right way. We did not play the Bullets once this year and I do not remember seeing them play so I couldn't tell you how they are doing. Others that I am familiar with to keep an eye on would be the Bolts 03, Birmingham Vipers 03 (I'm partial to this group), Tn Mojo 03, Fury 03 and if you arte at the Fastpitch Classic check out Texas Impact Gold 03 (IG3). They are another team that always plays tough.

I know I left plenty of teams out but over the past year we played more 02 teams than 03's so I really didn't get to see too many of them.

Thanks for the tips! I will keep my eye out at the tourneys!

Most of my friends have younger kids than I do so I often feel old too. I guess it's all relative. :)

There are 08 teams popping up to play 8u. My youngest was born in 2010 and I can't even imagine her playing in two years. DD#1 started travel part time in her first year of 8's but it seems so hard to imagine my baby is about to be able to play rec for the first time.
