I am about to make a recruiting video for my DD. Should we film her in her TB uniform or her school ball uniform? Any other suggestions anyone can add to make the video as effective as possible? Thanks!

To each is own, but Ive been looking into making some skills videos as well for my dd and tb team. Per suggestions by others... they have recommended to me that the girls wear neutral clothing and nothing to promote any affiliations. To keep the person who views these videos focused on the specific skill sets being displayed and not who she has played for. If they want that info based on what they've seen on the video, they will get a hold of you. This will create an opportunity to speak with a potentially interested coach/recruiter.

Just my pennies.

Most everyone I know who has done vids, used which either uniform looked more "proffessional" in appearance. And most HS fit the bill more, as we like those wild colors to stand out with travel uniforms. Remember you're "applying" for a position/job, you want to look your best just like you would in a real interview for employment.

Scroll around the skills vids on YouTube. It's about half n half on travel or school uniforms.

We used DD's travel uniform. The travel team/coach were the ones playing an instrumental part in her recruiting-- her high school had nothing to offer on that front, so we wanted to maintain the connection.
Ultimately, I don't know that it matters.

Since my DD will be a 2017 graduate, I imagine we will be making a couple of recruiting videos over the next 2-3 years, so maybe we will alternate! LOL

I made a video for my DD and all I can tell you is use the uniform that the coaches will see you DD wearing (put you in the uniform they will see you in when there scouting you in person I.E. easier to pick you out of your team mates) ....here in cali. your going to be seen more in travel than you will ever be seen in high school( if seen at all in high school) One other suggestion i would give you that I've heard annoys coaches is music on your videos ..... when we did ours for our NCSA site they were very specific no music....our video is just her doing what she does no music no sound at all ....coaches don't care what you favorite song is ......or the sound of the pitching machine throwing a ball...... all coaches care about in a video is mechanics pure and simple .... my 2 cents

wichita - I have to admit that I watched several recruiting/skills videos today and the ones with music got annoying after about 10 seconds.....

In our situation, my dd's video was too long. Length can be a problem. My dd was being recurited at several positons and so, we tried to make everyone happy. If I could, I would have changed that. I think it is important for the player to introduce themselves and thank the coach for watching. No music! Also, I think it is important that you put contact information on the video. We used YouTube and so, it was easy to get coaches to look at it there. DD actually got two offers from schools who never say her play based upon her video and the contact of a friend who is a prominent D-I coach. Naturally, the contact of the coach was more important that the video. We had dd use her travel uniform because, as mentioned earlier, that was the uniform that most coaches were going to see her wear when they came to take a look at her.

I'll add to CB in the case of possible multi position recruiting. Make your strongest position first. Most college coaches look only for a moment if not "wow'd". If you're a pitcher, best pitches first. A hitter, hitting first. Position player, best position first. Then you can transition into the abyss.

I recommend about 3 mins of video. Get to the point quick, sell your product. No music, I can't stand to watch one with music.

Also I recommend extra mins of video on standby, and include in the email "more available footage on request".
