DD (starting 14U) is in need of new Mitt. She is using Vinci JCV-PC that I got from casedawg back in Dec 2015 and she has been very happy with the mitt.

I wasn't sure how long a good mitt typically lasts, but for my DD after a little over 2 1/2 years she has worn a hole in the leather on the palm.

I'm wondering if I should get her a very similar replacement ($150ish) or if it is worth upgrading to one of the Vinci mitts that are $250-300. Performance of her current mitt is good so it would only make sense if the mitt is going to last her longer than 2-3 years.

We have a pretty heavy schedule and she catches 80% of games, according to game changer she caught almost 1000 TB innings with current mitt + probably another 500 in rec and scrimmages + weekly catching for her pitchers (not sure how many pitches that adds up to).

Appreciate any feedback on high end mitts and if you can expect them to last 4+ years with that kind of use. If I'm gonna spend $300 on a mitt I would hope it would last through high school.
Does your DD like the mitt she has? Does it work well for her? Is she comfortable using it?
Why buy something different when this one works for her?

DD has been very happy with the performance and fit of the Vinci mitt she's using, and I'm not complaining about it wearing out considering the amount of use she's gotten out of it.

Buying a direct replacement was my first thought, however I see Vinci makes two models that are more expensive and was curious what she would get out of the more expensive models, better leather that last longer? Better fit?, as she is very happy with her current model, and I worry that I buy her a "nicer" model and maybe it doesn't feel as good to her as what she's using.

Also, her current mitt is a 33" and most of the pricier models are 34". I ask DD if she thinks she would like to go slightly up in size and I get the "I don't know".

I probably need to reach out to one of the Vinci reps for more info. I wish there was one local to Tampa so DD could try them.

Thanks for the feedback

I couldn't get a direct link (sorry) to Jenny Topping's Gold Medal Training FB page where she discusses "How long should a catcher's mitt last"but if you scroll down to it ( I think it was just earlier this month, maybe 9/6?) I think you'll find some of the discussion pretty interesting. She talks about the amount of use and replacement as well as size and finger placement. I'm sure not everyone will agree with all of it but if your DD catches you might want to listen and think about what she's saying.

My DD has the optimus jcv and I'll flat out say it's amazing. She doesn't wear anything under the glove and doesn't need to. She went back to catching baseball a few weeks ago using her Wilson mitt that's been super reliable and strong for years, it may last a lifetime. However, she was getting the heck stung out of her fingers. She then realized just how nice the Vinci glove was for fastpitch. The deal Drakemir gave me was super sweet too. If people can spend 300+ on a bat every year or two, you'd think a 300 dollar glove every 5 years would be a no brainer.

My daughter is first year 16u. She’s been using the same mitt since 12u. It’s some Easton model I’m not even sure. Probably discontinued because I literally paid someone 25 dollars for it. I don’t know how, but it’s working for her still. I have a brand new Wilson A2000 waiting for her to break in.

The JVC-VM is the 33" version of the JCV34.

Just ordered JCV-VM form Dakemir. DD can't wait.

Came down to if we should get 33" or 34", I suggested she go up to 34", but she said she likes her current mitt so we stayed with the 33".

I'm not sure what drives that decision, is it just preference? She tried some teammates 34" gloves (other brands) and they felt big to her. DD doesn't like change in gear so I think that's what pushed her to stay with what she's used to.
