Looking for a catchers mitt. Dad, very small hands (smaller than Trump), thumb reconstruction when I was around 12 and bothers me sometimes. I used a Liberty mitt this weekend and it's a nice glove that I could get use but feels huge to me. I have been using a Little League 1st base mitt. Time for an upgrade. Sorry for another glove thread.

DD has skinny fingers and pretty small hands. She uses an All Star. Absolutely loves it! She does catch one pitcher who throws some heat and she has never complained about sting.

Is it the size of the mitt overall or just loose on your hand?

Not really loose. Feels like my hand is stretched out. I played 2nd base in college and a little catcher. I always used the smallest glove possible. Can't see anymore and the thumb causes problems now. I'm old.

I understand what your saying. My diamond catchers mitt is sort of like that. Strange thing is it's still short on my palm. DD has
a All Star vela field glove. Nice glove. I'd be tempted to buy the All Star catchers mitt.

KPower- Do you know if your daughter has the CMW3000 or the CMW4000? I've got a daughter with small hands as well in need of an upgrade soon.

I have a CMW3000, I wouldn't say it has a massive hand stall, but it's not a tight/snug hand stall either. The Mizuno Franchise that TexAg suggested is probably the smallest hand stall I've ever seen. If you're catching a girl with some heat you better catch the ball in the pocket/web with that Franchise!

If the thumb is still an issue, and you have a girl throwing heat, then you may want to look into an inner glove that supports the thumb. It might also tighten up those finger stalls as a side benefit.

I'm currently breaking in a cmw3000, and Annasdad is right. The finger stalls aren't large, but they're not tight either.

As far as face masks go, since I'm not in a game with a batter tipping the ball at me I just found one that fit. I hardly wear it, we're not there yet, but one of our softball moms was sporting a black eye last fall from the ball hitting bucket she'd set up as the batter and coming in at a weird angle.
