We've been looking at the Easton Prowess but was hoping that the Pro X would be out sooner and we could possibly just go that route. I like that the Mako II has the better foam and the cage mount system (although It seems they have a breakage issue). Haven't done a fit/vision test between the two side by side yet.

My DD is currently using an Easton M10 (essentially the same as the Prowess). She likes the way it fits, so moving to a Mako II is an easy call. The shell is the same. The difference is the cage, cage mounting, and improved padding.

My daughter is currently wearing the Prowess gear and really likes it. The helmet padding is the one area I'd agree needs improvement, it took some time for her to get used to the firmer padding. On the plus side, we have had no issues with the pads falling out like we did with the Wilson Shock FX 2.0 (we actually had two helmets replaced under warranty for that problem).

What annoyed me was Jen Schro's huge hype machine for the Prowess gear, which prompted us to go that route, followed almost immediately by "wait until you see the great new gear I'm working on next!". Literally a month after we bought the whole Prowess set.

Jen Schro, if you are reading this I hope you told Easton their batting helmet needs a redesign too.

Westwind - what aspect of their batting helmet are you referring to? The newest helmets our team is getting from Easton look pretty decent and the biggest change/upgrade I see is the cutout near the eyes on each side to vastly improve peripheral vision.

Just looked them up- they do look better. The Z5 was heavy, thick and restrictive. I still chafe at the fact that there should be a fp specific model. Open it up, design it to keep 11” soft balls out, not baseballs.

The new Force3 helmet, "V2," has an interesting "raised cage" design. Theoretically, it would lessen impact force?

I'd give this serious consideration if/when DD's Wilson Shock 2.0 breaks, but unfortunately there's no youth size offered for the V2.

Aesthetically, I think the V2 is a better looking than Force3's regular "Defender" hockey style, though I still prefer the Shock 2 design.
