My DD team is a pitcher on an A level 12u team and I will be an AC in this years team and we are beginning indoor practices and also separate bullpen sessions with pitchers/catchers.

My DD is a pitcher that I teach so I will be in charge of the BP sessions but we don’t have a coach for the catchers.

My question is this: what drills or skills work for catchers flow with pitcher indoor bull pen work? I like to give the pitchers some time to recover in the session so we could do something catcher-only related during this time and/or after the pitchers session.

I plan to go to one of our catchers lesson to know what they are focused on (I may get my answers then) but I would love to get other experienced advice and specifics.

Thanks in advance!

See if you can find one of the NE catching camp dvds for sale online. Recently someone at DFP gave one away.

Otherwise you can always work on throwing balls in the dirt for blocking practice. Wild pitches. Set up a ball behind them while they are in the crouch, say"go" and they have to scramble behind them, get the ball and throw down. ( for practice fielding bunts and mishits, coach is behind catcher and tosses out "bunts" in front for catcher to field and the throw to 1b. , Bucket of baseballs- catcher in the crouch with no glove, coach rapidly tosses balls at them, they just catch barehanded and release to the side.(don't throw hard, just quickly, one after another)
