Catcher DD has battled some acne for a year or so, and she's beginning to notice that it gets worse after tournaments and clears up greatly when she's on a week or two break. Anyone battled this and if so, any tricks to fighting it? Thought about cleaning the mask a couple times and her washing a few times on tournament days.

might also be stress related, since I am assuming she is practicing when not playing in tournaments?

When the weather's hot, I break out just from wearing a baseball cap as a spectator. Keeping sweat (and dirt from dusty ballfields) close to the skin is a recipe for increased acne.

Clean the helmet well and suggest that she wash her face as soon as she gets home from the fields, in addition to her regular face-washing.

I've heard some girls say masks tend to exacerbate their acne.

Then they pointed out that broken face bones were even worse than acne.

Try Lightning's method.

You should wipe down the inside of the mask and be sure to get your dd facial wipes to clean her face after practice/games.

Take baby wipes and in between game have her wipe her face off real good. Have a second catchers mask ready and waiting.

We have gone through the same exact problem. dd started using Acne Solutions by Clinque. It has done wonders!! She packs the liquid solution (the toner) and cotton balls and wipes off her face through out the day during a tournament. We wipe down her face mask a couple of times during the week. We also replaced her chin pad on her mask. And dds face is 100% clearer. Acne Solutions by clinque can be a little pricey but it works! They make a face wash, a toner, moisturizer and even foundation that has the medication in it. dd started using it and we saw results within a week. but be patient it takes time for any treatment to work.
