I looked at the catchers camp, but nothing near us in forseaable future, and Albany is too far away. (southern NJ).

will look at the video. also found one roving instructor in jersey area (does a differeent location each night), might try that.

My DD attended the CC clinic twice. At each one, there were people who traveled for many hours (some by plane) to attend. Every one of those people (as far as I heard) thought it was worth the trip.

Buy The Catching Camp DVD or video stream. End of thread.

I'll up the ante. Buy the video THEN attend the clinic. In my observation, players that were already familiar with CC's approaches and methods got more out of the clinics than those who came in cold. The clinic was the important fine-tuning of mechanics and methods.

I'm in Central NJ, DD attended the Catching Camp in Manheim PA last year. Not too far a drive, there are plenty of inexpensive hotels nearby if you want to stay overnight. It's the first weekend in December, I highly recommend it.

been to mannheim for a field hockey tournament, stayed overnight, not awful, but convincing DW and checkbook to do it for a clinic for a 10 yr old is a tough sell.

actually it looks like her coach will also be doing a catchers clinic this winter at the facility she does hitting and pitching instruction at couple of times a week. hopefully schedule works out for that.

will probably go ahead and get the CC video. thanks for all the replies!

My DD did her first CC clinic at 9yo, and did another one a year later. For young catchers who are motivated to put in the effort to improve their craft, this is an excellent time for them to get top-level instruction. I'm very thankful that we became aware of - and took advantage of - the CC video and clinics when we did. It set a foundation for my DD's game that continues to pay off 4 years later.

This past weekend, my DD attended a 3-day camp at the University of Oregon. The camp was designed for players 13 and older, who are on a path towards playing high-level softball. My DD was one of the youngest in the group, but held her own very well among the group of catchers, displaying skills and mechanics that many of the older catchers struggled with. Much of the instruction given by Coach K and the Ducks' catchers was in line with the mechanics and methods taught by CC.

want to send her to a clinic, know it will benefit her, but have to keep eye on budget and time, which is why for right now need to keep it close to home. DW is working OT currently to pay for both DDs sports interests right now.
