Just got DD her own catcher gear since she's been primarily catching the last couple of seasons..
She's just 5' and less than 100lbs but 12 so we got her the Intermediate size. The helmet and leg guards fit great but the chest guard is just a tad too big. We cannot tighten it enough to make it so it fits right - it doesn't stay right at her shoulders and hangs too low. DH was able to mess with the back strap so it seems to fit but it's probably not a good solution.

Any ideas on a way to tighten it more? It's an Easton M7 - should we just try to buy a Youth size until she gets bigger?

Thanks..

The top of the chest protector should be no lower than the u shaped area below your throat. Put your pointer finger at that point and adjust accordingly, if you can not get it to adjust there, get a smaller chest protector until she grows a bit.

DD has a 12" Schutt Scorpion chest protector, which has been great. However, the straps were way too long and could only be tightened so much. It's crazy, how big do they think someone wearing a 12" chest protector is?

Any way, DD broke out the sewing machine and sewed a loop into the straps and voilà! It fits great now.

Like CNJ did, I sewed the straps of my DDs chest protectors when she was younger in order to get them to fit her properly.

Moe is absolutely right about fit. I see too many kids with poorly-positioned and/or too-loosely fitting chest protectors. Think compression shirt, not apron. CNJ's DD is a great example of good fit.

I think DH figured out a way but I'll mention sewing it - that sounds a little more sturdy and less ugly than the way I think he's doing it now.
Actually have games this weekend so we'll see how it holds up.
Thanks!!
