So Cal
On warm-to-hot days we have a bucket of ice water in the dugout, and we require every girl to have a cooling towel in their bag as part of their game gear. At the start of the game, all the girls drop their towel in the bucket to soak. Between innings, a chilled on the back of the neck (or face, or head) does wonders for cooling down.

Of course, this is in addition to staying well-hydrated.

Please tell us that they are not re-soaking the towels throughout the day!

Because the towels are sweaty and they are mixing their sweat. I don't think its big deal as long as drinks and food aren't being kept in the same cooler. I saw a player puting ice cubes from a cooler like this into her waterbottle. Gross!

Nope. This bucket is for towels only. By the end of the game, the water is pretty gross and dirty.

Also...the last player to strike out looking is responsible for bringing the bucket to the next game. ;)

That is really unsanitary and quite frankly a health hazard.

MRSA
Scabies
Ringworm
Impetigo

The list goes on...

Would they want to share the same sweaty towel?

I would seriously re-think that.

I took it as there was a designated ice bucket for all the girls to dip their individual towels. Could anything like that even survive ice water? Dipping only, no eating of ice or putting drinks in.

Ever hear of a chill water alert when a water supply is compromised? To each their own, but I sure would not do it.

We use a 5 gallon beverage cooler, fill it half full with ice and then fill up with water. Everyone throws their cooling towels into it. I don't allow them to ring them out in the cooler as the water would get pretty gross quickly. My 10U team usually empties it by the end of a long hot day because they play around with it to much, 14U's only use up about half the water.
