Back on the dirt...
I wasn't sure where to post this question. It's really an equipment question but it's specifc to the position. I'm ready to order a new Vinci custom mit for my DD. She really prefers the leather backed but I am thinking the mesh won't be as hot and she has sweaty hands anyway.

To anyone that has used both, what is your opinion? It may not matter because it's what ever DD wants but at least I can be informed when I talk to her about it. :)

I can't speak for Vinici and Softball, but my son's Rawlings mesh back mitt was a game changer; especially when he was young. It is so much of a lighter mitt, it really helped stick the low and away pitch. But honestly, I don't think it was any different, temperature-wise.

DD has the Vinci JCV VM, which is a mesh back glove. It is considerably lighter than her old Mizuno Classic. The mesh on the Vinci is very tough! I would highly recommend a Vinci mesh back, although I don't think it will help with hand sweat.

Right Here For Now
I bought a JCV VM for DD but she didn't like it. I kept it and use it now. Every minute I'm warming up my pitchers or trying one out, I'm thanking the big guy upstairs that I did. As far as hand sweat/temperature, the mesh is so thick and tightly woven that there's really little difference compared to my old Rawlings.

It really comes down to personal choice. The mesh does "breathe" a tad better than the all leather. It is considerably lighter too. Unlike many mesh mitts (and some all leather ones) Vinci lines the finger stalls with lightweight sheepskin. The mesh tends to be easier on break in than all leather.

ETdad.... The one on the left is a custom 33 inch JCV model in "PC" brown leather. (One of Vinci's softest leathers) The JCV on the right is a 34 inch in limited series brown with black mesh.
