There has been some differing opinions with coaches on using the runner on stance. We have tested blocking times from both stances and dropping and blocking from a runner on stance is faster and easier. Below are a few examples of our college age catchers setting up for pitches. These were pulled from our videos and will be a bit blurry but give you a good idea.
Runner On Stance
In general, this is a wider stances with hips level with knees, knees behind toes....
No Runner On
Lower hips, weight not on knees...
