DD had 1 and they did soften up a little bit but not enough. That's why she's in a Schutt Air Maxx Elite now. It just wasn't comfortable for her.
Thanks for the feedback. My DD ended up using it and she figures she'll get used to it or the cushion will soften over time.

It softened up once they used it awhile.
If the foam softens up too much the helmet will become loose and will rattle around on your DD's head while she is trying to use it. You may be better off getting a larger helmet and using a "fit kit" to make it fit the way she wants it. You can also replace the "fit kit" when it wears out without having the replace the helmet.
^^^^^THIS!!! Unless it's the largest helmet they make which is the one my DD had.

One of our catchers is using this helmet and said it fit like a glove. Haven't heard any complaints.
My DD got one a few weeks ago and loves it. Of course like all of my children she has been genetically cursed with my big head.
