Has anyone tried or heard anything about the Boombah Defcon catchers gear? DD loves the looks of the gear but nowhere around here is a dealer so no way to try it out so that makes me hesitant of course.

Boombah is very easy to work with. If you call them and say that you want to demo the gear for a team/organization they will wave the shipping charges and most times they will give you free shipping if you don't like it. I had a manager at Boombah tell me to just say that whenever I call in...

Wow. Great advice sbmom19. I will absolutely do that!

It looks to me as if it is the exact same gear that they had before but is now available in a much greater variety of color combinations. With that in mind, does anybody have any experience with the gear?

Thanks for the info as well, why I love this place, I just wondered if anyone is using it as well. We have used Easton then moved up to Schutt but the shin guards cracked on thenSchutts lol, so daddy's not spending big money on those again.

What size do you think the youth size fits without being too big? My 10 year old is 4'6 and around 70 lbs. She still fits in her 8u catchers gear but she needs more padding now that she is playing in a harder league.

My DD got the Defcon chest protector and really likes it. She was using the All Star Vela and says that this one stays in place better, feels less bulky and has good mobility. She said she really couldn't tell a difference in the padding pattern in regard to blocking and deadening a ball between the Boombah & All Star. She bought it primarily because of the color options, but it has been an excellent choice so far. Good thing about this protector is that the white stripes are vinyl so dirt doesn't get into the mesh and turn pad rust colored after first tournament. DD is 5'3" and about 115, the adult 16.5 fits her fine. Only issue is the piece of leather that joins the back and shoulder straps seems very weak. However it has held up to about a half season of tournaments so far.

Not sure if it was by design or not, but the protector folds into thirds nicely, making it compact to get into a catchers bag.

No input on the shin guards or helmet. DD is wearing mixed set with Wilson shin guards and All Star helmet. Boombah has always been great to work with and have good quality, so I'm sure they will let you return if not a good fit.

Thanks so much Tom, we are going to go mixed set as well, the Wilson ProMotion Shinguards should be here next week. Still researching chest protector and helmets.

Promotion chest Protector and Wilson Shock FX 2.0 helmet would be my suggestions to you.
