My DD will be playing school ball for the first time this year. A couple of the other girls have asked for back packs this year because they are so much easier to get on and off the bus. She currently uses a Boombah Brute which has held up very well and holds everything but I can see it being a pain carrying through a bus.

Has anyone used a back pack that would actually hold catchers gear? It would need to hold her gear, batting helmet, and regular glove.

Thanks

the walkway of the bus is to narrow. A bag like that gets caught on all the seat hardware. DD switched to an Easton. Taller and narrower for getting on the bus. I don't think there is a back pack big enough to catchers gear and a batting helmet. Plus if you have a backpack you will be the freshman stuck lugging the ball bucket or bownet.

I thought the backpack for my DD also for bus access but really there is no way to secure all the items. Shins would go over the bats as would cleats and there's a real chance for them to "WALK OFF" with someone else if not paying attention. I would talk to the bus driver and explain you have a large bag during that season and request the front seat. It's what my DD did and seems to be appreciated by all the kids not getting hit with her bag.

Here are your options:
1. Drive her to school every day when in season
2. Drive her equipment to school on your lunch break every day and walk it into the safe in the main office

In all honesty pulling off "the switch" is a much easier task than your DD hauling catchers gear to school on a school bus.

I was actually only referring to the bus they will take for away games. I can't imagine having to lug her gear around along with her school stuff everyday. She can lock it up in her locker in field house and bring it home when she has a lesson.

The catcher on DD's school team uses a Tanel Rage bag, now I don't know a whole lot about it except its a great looking bag and holds all of her stuff.

Just a thought...How about a backpack for batting helmet, gloves, etc., and a separate small duffel bag for catcher's gear? Working with 2 smaller pieces might be more maneuverable than 1 large bag.

This is what my son does for middle school. He has his tourney back pack and uses a small Akadema roller bag for his catchers gear.

Must be first rodeo. Teammate goes to back of bus and opens rear door. Load catchers gear, bucket, bownet and all other BS into bus. Reverse procedure to unload.
