All,

I have seen a lot of talk about the Vinci, Akademia, and Nokona mitts. Does anyone have any experience with the Wilson A2000 FPCM SS mitt or the Wilson Onyx CM mitt?
My daughter is a 11 year old catcher, who is on the smaller side for her age. I have already purchased and began breaking in a Mizuno MVP Prime mitt, however she has stated that it feels too big on her hand and that she can't get her fingers far enough into the glove to feel in control.

Thanks in advance

Vinci makes an incredible catcher's mitt (JCV-VM) that, at least for my two catcher DDs, is perfect. I personally can't use one because they are too small for my hand (both 33' and 34" sizes). You will not find a better-constructed mitt anywhere, for any price, or with better padding. And it is well under your target price range if you buy it from CaseDawg here.

I bought myself a Worth Liberty Advanced for catching my pitcher DD and couldn't be happier with it. It does not have the padding that the Vinci has, but it is beautifully made and is breaking in much more quickly. For $120 I don't think you can go wrong.

I recently ordered a Vinci JCV-22 from CaseDawg and wasn't disappointed in any way. After countless hours online and going to multiple sporting good stores that stock pretty decent selections of catcher's mitts to have my 12 year old and myself try many on (Mizuno, All-Star, Academy, Worth, etc.) I kept leaving disappointed. I am a pretty picky shopper and either didn't like the materials or shape or something. My target when I started looking was in the $200 range (I eyeballed the Nokona & A2000 pretty hard) and from what I could tell the Vinci always seemed to have the best online comments and reviews. I should also say that I'm a horrible online shopper because I like instant gratification and really like to put my hands on the merchandise. When I finally ordered the glove based on what I read here I got it FAST and well under my budgeted amount. The mitt is top quality in materials and craftsmanship for sure. It's going to take a while to break in but I didn't want a "game ready" glove that's going to be floppy after one season. Luckily I enjoy the breaking in process.

Good luck with whichever glove you choose and thanks to all that take the time to post here helping me with my decision.

I am 30 but I have very small hands, slim wrists and short fingers (I have to buy youth batting gloves, M size). I bought Worth Libert Advanced mitt, LACMWN model. It is IMHO perfect for catchers who have small hands and leather straps help to adjust the mitt to the wrist (I could never get even a good fit with velcro). Moreover, the days when my thumb was hurting after the ball hit the thumb area are once and for all gone.

The velcro part is why I opted for not buying Vinci though their mitts are looking really good.

Good luck with finding the mitt for your DD :)
