Hello! I haven't posted here in a VERY LONG time. However, back in the day when my girl was young I spent more time here and on other fastpitch sites than i probably should admit to.

My daughter and I spent hours and hours honing her swing. I took advice from all sorts of people. Some people were helpful, others not so much, others were at times down right mean. But thats alright, I have thick skin.

I PM'ed many people including Tewks, Howard, FiveFrameSwing, Richard from Hitting Illustrated, Steve Englishbey, etc. etc. all. at various times over the years looking for advice, drills, etc either here or on their respective sites.

Each person I took a little something from good or bad. It wasnt always easy. Sometimes, a good idea or a drill wasnt so good and we would temporarily break her swing and/or confidence for awhile. Somedays we didnt like each others company. Somedays we both felt like quitting. But we persevered she became better than good and she got on a good travel team.

She got many excellent offers as an outfielder not because shes a good outfielder...shes okay...but because she can flat out hit the ball.

She has a bit more than 20 games left to her collegiate softball career at this point playing for a small D1. As of this writing she has set the all time hits record at her school, she just set the school and conference all time home run record as of yesterday and is 4 RBI's away from setting the schools all time RBI record. She has two conference rings. Shes been to two college playoff regionals, both in Tuson. She lived the dream and I hope all of you get a chance to experience some of the things my kid and I got to experience.

All it took was perseverance, a plan, and the hard work and desire to see it through.

For all you Moms/Dads out there...the one thing I wish I could change is time. Its all gone so fast...enjoy every agonizing second of the long trips, crappy hotels, hot days on the diamond, the complaining from the kid, etc. I will miss all that. Also, remember to let them have some fun and enjoy the sport they love so much. Sometimes I made it hard on my kid. I regret that. She would have been just as good without the drill seargent tactics. Her and I are very close and I am thankful that softball didnt ruin that. Softball has given her so much. Good luck to everyone just now starting this journey.

Thanks for this post and congratulations. The journey is so tough and so when someone takes the time to share a part of their journey, it helps so many members here.

Congrats. Sounds like a wonderful experience for you both, and most certainly helped make her a better person and have a better life.

Would love to see swing footage if you have any handy.

And some from last years tournament...I am not crazy about some of the things she was being asked to do with her swing here but she was getting the job done:
