DD's first love is softball but she loves volleyball also. Just had high school tryouts. DD is an incoming freshman and she made varsity!

I am not sure there is a correlation but we are losing one of or best players to volleyball, lot of them seem to play it.

Different season for us. Volleyball is fall and softball is in the spring. The good thing is they enroll the young ladies in strength training. Something my DD has never done. I hope it improves her overall game in softball.

Congrats!

My DD is also an incoming freshman. Her 2nd sport is swimming. She was already told last spring, by the swim team captain, that with her times, she will automatically make the varsity team.

I keep on hearing that college recruiters like two sport athletes. I guess our DDs are doing well.

Don't know if these stats are correct, but they back up what you are saying.

Softball--US High School Girls 374,528, US College Women 31,123

Volleyball--US High School Girls 444,779, US College Women 25,704

Odds of playing a college sport from high school

Looks even tougher to get a volleyball scholarship

Congrats!! My sister played volleyball, softball and basketball in HS and played volleyball in college. My wife also played volleyball in HS, along with running track which she did in college. No volleyball
yet for my DD (she is only 8) but she is a good little basketball player. Unfortunately we don't have the time or money for her to do TB in both softball and basketball so I am not sure how far
she will be able to go in basketball with just her Dad's instruction and rec ball  since it appears that most HS basketball players nowadays are playing TB from a young age as well...

Volleyball is expensive. First week, mandatory clinic $100. Jersey, polo, pullover, and ankle things $180. Tuesday night parent meeting to discuss plane fare=$300. $580 in first week

And that is HS... imagine Club Volleyball. You forgot to include the School's charge to play too :)

Congrats!!!! DD plays both. School seasons for both don’t conflict but club VB and spring travel SB do conflict. As will high school softball and club VB when she gets there. Luckily, the club coach is flexible but for the $$$$, I would hope so.

Here’s to multiple sport athletes - a dying breed even though collegiate coaches say they love them. Maybe they need to talk to MS and HS coaches. Lol

Update. DD started in 7 of 8 games this weekend and we came in 2nd in our first tournament. Losing to a team with 9 seniors. DD says one of the seniors was not pleased DD got the starts. A little cussing and throwing stuff after the last game. DD is doing her thing. Getting better and I expect her to be much better by the end of this season.
