Ending high school career as a state champion!!

DD’s high school team has been largely made up of girls she’s played with forever. This years team was a group of girls who won 10U Eastern Nationals together 7 years ago.
They’ve made the post season every year, being sectional champs and sectional runner ups but this year they brought it home and not only dethroned the 3 year reigning champs but shutting them out 5-0.
And if the state championship wasn’t enough DD knocked in 4 of the runs and scored the 5th run. She ended her high school career with her BFF (our pitcher) surrounded by reporters, laughing and crying because they brought home the first state high school softball title our town has ever won. These kids are like family, we’ve all known each other since the girls were 6,7 & 8 years old. To quote one of them “this year was like playing with my family, all of my sisters”
Now on to her final season of club ball and then college ball but I’m not sure anything will top this

We missed you in Devens this weekend, but Ok, I guess you had a good excuse. Seriously though, CONGRATS to CM and her teammates!! What a great accomplishment! They seemed destined this year!

It would have been great to see you guys. We made it to Devens late last night and she was in a different uniform for her 8 am game. We won that but the 1130 game was a whole other story. A bunch of errors, a blind as a bat plate ump and an opposing coach whose job seemed to be questioning everything to run down the clock. Lost 9-6 but she had 2 ground rule doubles, damn those temporary fences, both would have been triples with a real fence, one bounced over, one rolled just to the side but hit the ground fair in deep right.
