Not really a brag post but kinda funny nuntheless...
DD joined a new team and is the unproven new girl... At practice the asst coach notices that DD is not squishing the bug while taking warm up swings before entering the cage. He says to her "you'll never reach your power potential if your back foot keeps poping up like that" He then proceeded to instruct her to squish... Here's the "brag" of this post... DD calmly responds to him. "Thank you for your advise but I already have a hitting coach and this is how we do it"... My heart swelled with pride.
Here's the kinda funny part... She enters the cage and proceeded to rip the cover off the ball so hard that the whole gym stopped to see what on earth was so loud! Then, with the whole team looking, he tosses the next pitch, line drive right back into the safety screen that he was too close to. The ball was stopped by the netting, but he was so close that the ball still got him in the nose. Blood everywhere, the team racing to get him towels and ice.
While I was trying to help him stop the bleeding he asked me if his dd could come take hitting lessons... LOL

nice! At least he was willing to swallow his pride and see if he could get is dd some lessons

I was watching Golf on Sunday. I didnt notice any Golfers "squashing the bug." Could you imagine how far tiger woods could hit a golf ball by just squashing the bug?

Thats awesome Coach James! I love having that conversation! A very well meaning assistant coach came up to me last year to tell me about how well dd was hitting but wanted to show me a pic on his phone of dd's rear foot off the ground. He had a concerned, sympathetic tone as he pointed it out. Having previous experience with having that same conversation, I replied "Yeah Man!, Thanks for noticing that! I really love how she gets off her back foot too, she has always done that naturally but we still do a lot of drills that encourage lower half and driving hard off that back foot!" He just nodded vaguely and said "O.K., um as long as you know about it."

I am still waiting for the day when my son tells his coach I don't swing that way. My son has a coach that is all about hands to the ball swing, and he gives the worst examples of how to swing a bat I have ever seen. Told my son to ignore everything he says in regards to hitting.
