Was a great weekend for my DD and her team! Team won the USSSA central state championship tournament which had #1, 2 (her team), 5, 6 ranked teams in the state so it was a pretty stacked field. Daughter pitched and won 5 games she started including the championship game. She pitched 19 innings, gave up 12 hits, 8 r, 3 ER 2 walks and 31 strike outs. For the weekend she threw 269 pitches and 210 of them were for strikes. She no hit the #1 team in the state and gave up just 2 hits in the championship game. She overcame some nerves and emotions out there as she wasn't hitting as well as she had been but when she shook those things off she played fantastic. In the final game she threw 4 innings, 1 ER, 7 K no walks and just 2 hits. For the weekend at the plate she was .308 with two doubles to the fence and led the team with 7 RBI.

Based on USSSA's "Power Rankings" her team is now ranked #1 in the state and #3 in the country!

It was quite an exciting way to end her first year of TB and get her excited to move to 12U in the spring but it will nice to get a little time off!

Happy Holidays to all of you here on DFP!

DD got a scrimmage in this weekend in the Pacific NW, which is saying something in Dec. First field was iced over and we had to move because it was not safe. DD had what's becoming a pretty normal showing for her, 3-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 SB, but the team committed 9 errors, only mustered 8 hits and it was an ugly loss, so DD performance was sort of bitter sweet.

Congratulations to her and her 10U team, as well as putting up some awesome individual stats in mopping up the field!

A couple things that really standout...
K/BB ratio at 31/2, or 15 1/2 to 1
210/269 strike/pitch ratio, or 8 of 10 pitched strikes.

Awesome!

As well as no hitting #1, and a 7/0 K/BB with 1 ER in 4 innings of work in the title game.

Can't forget to mention noticing how she's a "big game" performer as well!

Great opening chapter for her softball resume'...

Coaches take note. :D

Thanks! It really has been an exciting start! What I failed to mention is that she was clocked as fast as 52mph during the weekend! At the beginning of the Fall season she had a top speed of 46 or 47.

She's already asking when she can start focusing on the 12" ball from 40'! I've told her that it will be different at 12U and not to expect as many strikeouts and to focus on getting girls out with grounders and pop flies. She seems to get it, but after the year she had I'm sure it will be somewhat of a shock when the balls get hit more often!

Either way, I can't wait!
