I don't have a softball brag but DD played her 2nd soccer game ever this weekend and scored her first goal. It's the only goal her team has gotten yet (we lost 9-0 the first game, and 2-1 this game). This is rec ball through our county. She didn't want to play and we forced her because we knew she'd like it. She did nothing but complain the first couple of weeks but she's stopped now. Her teammates hugged her and high fived her, she was pretty excited :D

DD continued pitching well, though she only got one inning this game (the game only went three innings before we hit the time limit). No walks and no WPs, just 10 pitches, 2Ks, one groundout. She also got a hit and drove in a run.

In rec, DD played up with a 14U team on Sunday and was 2-3..
Was in the outfield and they didn't see a ton of action so not much to do defensively.

In MS, the only other undefeated team in our division ended up losing one of their games yesterday and so we ended up 1st in our division (we were 9-0-1 and they were 9-1-0)

Another soccer brag. Second year of AYSO. Daugther, 6 y/o (playing U7) is athletic, but didn't know the game of soccer last season, and was tentative. Saturday was their third game of season, and she added 3 goals, to bring her season total to 13 (3 games). She missed 3 other shots. This was the first game where she looked obviously like the best player on the field.

I hate soccer. But man it's fun to watch her play.

Or a lucky shot, maybe ;) You can tell our team got the random draw for the most part. The coach is new to coaching and I think we have a lot of girls who are new to soccer, including mine. That first game was painful. There was a girl on the team who scored half their goals by herself. We were wondering if maybe she plays travel also. She stood out from every other girl on both teams. Kinda reminded me of DD's last season of rec softball, after all stars and before we went to travel. The second game was more evenly matched. We'd had a few more practices so the newer girls had a better idea of what to do. But half the team still looks confused most of the time. That includes mine.

I feel the same way. I don't hate soccer like I hate basketball but it's a far cry from softball for sure. I definitely don't love it. But it is still fun to watch them do their thing.

DD played in a showcase tournament this weekend. A college that she invited showed up to watch her play. Both games that she pitched, dd was selected MVP. She pitched a 1 hit shutout win and had no runs against her. Batting wise, she decided to use her best friends bigger bat...actually did really well with it....batting .700 for the entire weekend, with some solid hits and great bunts moving the runners and getting on base. They did amazing well against showcase teams that travel out of state to play tournaments.
In the last 2 tournaments, dd only had 2 runs scored against her. It is nice to see well known organizations take them as a serious threat.

I miss watching DD play soccer...when we were stationed in Italy, she played soccer. She was pretty good. Got to play with the Italians who are amazingly good....even the really young kids.

Haha! I would watch basketball ANYDAY over soccer! DD finally gave up club soccer this year and I could not have been happier! She played at a pretty high level but it still was not enjoyable to me! Basketball on the other hand is awesome! DD is little so she gets underestimated alot - it is fun to watch the other teams shut down the lane only to have DD hit 3 pointers, one after another. LOVE IT!

Anyway...softball. Weird weekend for DD. She is playing on a new team this year. They are a 1st yr 14s team (DDs actual age group). They played against her old team (2nd yr 14s). It was so awkward! DD played really well. Her old team basically insulted her and played their OF in the dirt (DD was queen of bunts last year). DD hard slapped one past the SS and one out over 2nd base and got walked her 3rd AB. So proud of her.

DD's new team was down 7-1 in the bottom of the last inning. Finally came alive and scored 6 runs. Our fall ball league only allows 6 runs/inning. Such a bummer - they had bases loaded 1 out and top of the order when ump called the game. Ended in a tie. Going thru the line NOT ONE girl even acknowledged DD. She turned to go talk to them and they were no where to be found. It is so weird. She has friends on tons of different teams. They always chit chat after games. The really sad thing is - playing against DD's old team you can see just what kind of team they are. The chatter around the complex was how much everyone hated her old team. How everyone cheers for ANY team playing them. It is so sad. Her old coach has the potential to be such a nice guy and a good coach but he does not know how to shut down the bullying and drama. Makes me glad DD changed teams, but sad too...

Oh - and her new coach stepped in between DD and her old coach when he started towards her on the field. Not sure why he was approaching her...but glad to see her new coach is willing to look out for her. (For anyone who hasn't read my other threads - it was UGLY when we left - coach called us names and attacked my character, etc).

Anyway - glad that is over! So is DD. She finally feels a sense of full closure!
