Last year my DD was one of the younger ones on a tier 1 travel team. She did not get to play very much at the grand championships. This is something new to her, she was the MVP at last years grand championships. Anyway, after the tournament was over she said to me, "I just wanted to play so bad...." and then followed up with "... this is never going to happen to me again". After that she said when are going to practice.. this was on the way home from one of her most disappointing experiences in ball ever. I was so proud of her and loved her attitude and drive.

She had tryouts and made the tier 1 travel team for next season. But that hasn't stopped her. For the off season she's joined a running club that focuses on foot speed, sprinting and overall strength (more like a boot camp, I couldn't believe how intense the workout is). She's rock climbing twice a week and I got her a membership at indoor softball training facility. More importantly she's enjoying all this activity and determined with an iron will.

One proud dad regardless of the outcome next season.

That's awesome. The key here is that she made the decision and commitment to learn from her disappointment and get better. If it was you that said, "well, you're going to have to work that much harder so I'm going to put you in a running/speed & agility club, you're going to start rock climbing, etc. ..." I'm willing to bet the results would be quite different.
