Are the travel teams playing again yet? I know some are. We don't start back up til mid-October thanks to middle school ball. I can brag that our team is coming together really nicely and DH is doing a great job as a first time head coach though :) What are your DDs up to? Post videos if you have them. I'm having withdrawal symptoms.

Nice to hear about the team coming together. Best of luck to your DH. I guess it will take awhile before I get used to MS ball being played at such different times of the year, depending on where one is in the country. We don't start MS ball until April. We had a two week break in TB as the tryout weeks were going on in August, then immediately back to practice and a tournament Labor Day weekend.

My twin DDs, who just moved up from 12u and now are on the same 14u TB team (finally), played a doubleheader yesterday. We thought it was going to be against another young 14u team. When we arrived it turned out we were playing the high school's JV team. There were some big girls on that team. We won the first, because their pitcher lost it in the last inning, walking in a number of runs, and tied the second game.

DD2, who was on a town team for the past two seasons, started pitching 8 weeks ago. She quickly became the star pitcher on the town team. I don't know how that happened. Anyway, they let her pitch in her first TB game yesterday. Two innings with three SO (2 looking), walked two, and one HBP. After the game the director of her team's organization said to me she was concerned when the first batter my DD faced was a lefty. She said it can be very difficult for a new pitcher to adjust to a lefty, I had no idea. She was concerned walking the first batter would rattle my DD. She stayed composed, and after a first basemen's fielding error was still able to strike out two that inning. The team's director said she thought my DD did great. I could not ask for anything more.

My other DD, a catcher, had a bad day by her own assessment, but was still clearly better than the other two catchers on the team. She as picked up a bad batting habit, dropping her hands after she loads, but before she swings. Her coach said it is a live pitching issue, she doesn't do it during tee work, or side toss. My DD is so determined to work on this she has already arranged with one of her teammates, a pitcher, to give her some practice time with live pitching on Wednesday.

It is ironic, but I guess very common, that my DD pitcher cannot pitch to her sister, she becomes suddenly wild.

DD is having a great time in college. She seems to be adjusting very well. Last week, they had their first on field practice - she was first freshman to hit it over (live pitching). And coach has been giving positive kudos too. I hardly ever hear from her though - that's been hard - trying not to hover or text a lot. Reduced my texting to maybe every two days - trying to stretch that. Lol. That's my brag - not live game related but still..

I guess it's bittersweet. It must be really wonderful to know you raised an independent, confident daughter. But also a little sad that she doesn't need you more. I fully expect the same experience with my oldest who's been talking about moving out since she was 7.

6-6 with a walk in first fall DH. :)

For some reason she was starting P 1st game, I think she is 4th or 5th pitcher. 1st 10 batter were retired. Walk and an error broke up the perfect game and shutout. I might need to rethink think her ranking, not walking batters makes the game a lot easier.

DD had middle school practice on Saturday, and a TB scrimmage on Sunday. Her 14U travel ball team played a 16U-A team, so didn't expect a very good outcome lol. Of course we lost, but had a couple of good innings. My 13 year old DD had a monster triple against a sophomore pitcher, which I was pretty proud of. She has generally been a short gamer, but if she keeps hitting like she has been she may be batting clean up lol. My DS had his first ever flag football games on Saturday, and made a couple of catches and a touchdown so got to brag on him a little bit since he is a 5th grader playing with mostly middle school kids.

Mudrunner - we must live parallel lives. My DD plays on a 14U team and is 13. She mostly plays small ball but when she hits - she HITS - and her brother is in 5th grade playing flag football as well. HA!

DD finally got to play her first fall ball games with her new team. I'm sure many will remember the sagas I posted about changing teams. Well it has been the best decision!
I had forgotten how fun it was to see DD with a huge smile on her face while playing softball. Her team talks to one another in the field and encourages each other the entire game. Whoever was sitting during an inning had a specific job as well. They were to tell the field when someone is stealing. Everyone was engaged and playing like a team! DD hit a double and 5 singles, and got walked once (with 2 strikes on her which is in and of itself a miracle!). Her team won both games handily and the girls even took it upon themselves to have a prayer circle after the game. These girls really seem to care about the TEAM. Unlike her old team where it was a bunch of individuals hoping for a good outcome.

Cannot say how happy we are! DD will play her old team next week - keep your fingers crossed for her. She is VERY nervous! (The coach was pretty horrible to me when I told him DD was moving on...and the girls have not been kind towards DD either.

DD is practicing with her new team, but no games until next weekend.

So my brag is our over-40 modified fast-pitch season started last week and I didn't pull my hamstring or my calf in the first game.
I think the kids were a little disappointed, because it happened last year.

Your kids are disappointed because you did not get hurt again in your first game?
