Ok, so not a parent but I wanted to brag some on my Great Niece. The wife and I went to watch her play early in the summer and her team was not good. Neither was the competition. In fact, we saw her play 2 games where she was never thrown a strike in the game. Not one it two full games. It was brutal. She wanted to be a pitcher and "hello elbow" ruled the day. So, she walked a lot. My Great Niece wanted to tryout for a better team and we were at our family reunion in Kentucky. My brother asked me to take a look at her as a coach and not as a great uncle. Long story short, we went to work and she seemed to try to do everything that I asked of her. Her attitude was fantastic.

After hearing the TB Program she wanted to play for, I knew that she would have to put a lot of work in. We went to two workouts a week and she had to work on her own the other days. They live a good distance from me. No matter how hot it has been, she has worked. So, today she finished the second day of tryouts for this team that she has wanted to play for. She made the team and did better than good. Only a couple of players were offered before they left the field. She was one of them. She was the fastest player to tryout. She threw strikes and has gotten rid of that hello elbow and she hit the ball really hard. I am so proud of her. Now, we will go to work to make sure she gets better but has fun playing the game. The great thing is that she has such good support from our family.

Great story, Cannonball! It's awesome to see a youngster reap the rewards of hard work --- especially when you have had a role in their efforts to improve. Congrats to you and your niece!

BTW.... What part of KY do you live (or have family if you don't live in KY)? We live about 20 minutes from Glasgow, and our TB team is based out of Bowling Green.

Hey Cannonball, coaches like yourself need to have a write-up in this Brag Fourm occasionally...

My hats off to you for working with her, and helping her get on the team!

I was born in Mayfield, Kentucky. My family lives north of Murray. I call that home. I've lived in Illinois now most of my life but when I head down to Kentucky Lake and Land Between the Lakes it is home to me. Glasgow, Kentucky? You are right next to Mammoth Cave! I love that area!!! Bowling Green is a neat place as well.

Nothing I like hearing more than about a player who is committed to the game and finds the drive within themselves to practice.
