My brag is a little weird today. We played a futures tournament this weekend with mostly A level teams. We had 3 pool games on Saturday, which were used to seed a gold and silver bracket. Only 10 teams were in the tournament, top 6 went gold, bottom 4 went silver. So we lost all 3 pool games on Saturday. All three teams we played were very good, but we also played very badly. I think they're approaching end of season burn out. They just didn't seem to want to be there.
Sunday was bracket. Since it was only 4 teams and single elimination, we won our bracket game and that put us in the championship. We played a pretty solid A team there too, and the umpires, man. My DD pitched most of the game and painting the corners is her specialty. I swear we couldn't buy a good call from the plate ump. But the team we played was awesome and fun and it was a great game. They won, we took 2nd place. So many of the girls on the 2 teams have played together in the past, it was like a big party. Just a very happy feeling game.
When we got in the car, DD said, "We only won one game all weekend, and got second place. That's pretty stupid." So that's my brag. I kind of love that my 10 year old understands the difference between a consolation bracket and REALLY winning a tournament. The medal she got means pretty much nothing to her because she doesn't feel like they earned it.
We've got a tiny little girl on our team. She's very athletic. She plays SS and 3B and CF and pitches a bit. She's fast as lightning. She hits in the 2 spot or lead off. Our last game she came up to bat, and sent one sailing way over the center field fence. It was amazing. She's so tiny, and they always bring everybody in when she's up to bat, but she's a good hitter and often surprises them. That was her first one over the wall though. Her dad's face was probably the best part of the whole weekend
