This weekend we won 1st place in a fundraiser tournament in TN. DD pitched 8 innings and gave up no earned runs. There was a girl on the team we played once in bracket and once in the championship who hit homeruns over the fence twice that day. DD had her pop out to SS once, then struck her out the 2nd time. We ended the championship game with a throw down and tag out at 2B. I don't know why he sent her on 2 outs and out of time. They were only down 4-1. They'd seen our catcher's arm. But they sent her, and we got her.

Two tournaments left, plus our world series, and we're through with 10U. It seems like it went by very fast.

Warning - long..
DD's 3rd All-Star tournament was supposed to finish this past weekend. Due to rain they've had to now go into this week.
Saturday we started our 2nd game of the tournament, playing a team who we are 2-1 against. They've got a great pitcher who struck out our girls 10 times the first time we faced her. So we knew it was going to be a struggle. Plus because of the rain, they've had to shorten our games to 1 hr!
DD had some amazing outs at catcher - 1st inning - bases loaded with 1 out. Grounder to second. 2B throws to DD - it's a little off so DD goes to grab it and is laying on the ground beside home plate. Gets it in her glove with the tip of her foot on home plate to get the force at home.
Later, girl on 3rd is off the base - DD throws to 3B and girls takes off - 3B throws to DD and they get the pick off at home.
Rain started falling pretty bad and it was mid 3rd and game tied at 2-2 with other team coming up to bat.
They had to reschedule all games for the next day. We had 15 minutes left. Able to get to the 4th still tied at 2-2.
Managed to get one run (on 2 outs) to make it 3-2 going into the bottom of the 4th which would be the last unless they tied it up.
Girl on 1st. Batter hits a grounder to RF. RF gets it and throws it to 3B and makes the tag on the girl who had been on 1st to get the 1st out. Two pop-ups later and we won 3-2! (The lowest scoring game we've had this entire all-star season - didn't realize that those extra 30 min made that much difference)
So now we play Tues/Wed depending on the rain situation again.
I swear I feel like it's been raining this entire summer! We're supposed to go to State this weekend but it's supposed to rain then too!

DD's team won their 2nd tournament in a row. Catcher threw out 4 runners this weekend. DD pitched two innings in the quarter-finals, pitched the whole semi-final. She struggled finding the umpires strike zone first inning semi-final, walked 3 batters and left a few pitches hanging. Almost escaped giving up just 1 run, but after not getting a close call at 3rd for the 3rd out, gave up 7 in the first inning. Her team had her back and scored 7 runs in the bottom of the inning to tie. Settled down and they won 15-7.

Sweet win, since about half DD's team got crushed by the team we played in Metro's two years ago.

Team in finals had two girls throwing 50/51, but our team thrives on fast pitching and we won final 14-4. Not sure why the other team was just throwing us fastballs.

DD was part of FO1-3 double play to end the game.... but still fired the ball to 3rd to try to get the 4th out since the runner at 3rd was still off the bag.

Hoping this momentum carries to Nor Cal metros next weekend!

I wish I had something to brag about...Team went 2-and-'que at our last PGF qualifier attempt. Lost the first game 3-2 on a walk-off fly out with bases loaded. Our team only had 2 hits. Elimination game was against a team we have played very close twice before. We only managed one hit, and they destroyed us 6-0. It was demoralizing. The final kick to the teeth was that a team we recently shut out 8-0 earned a PGF berth. The team is on a break for the next week. We are hoping for some renewed enthusiasm for our ramp up to TCS in Reno.

For the first time in many years, I was not on a softball field for Father's Day. It was weird.

Nothing on the field worth bragging about, played in the Champions showcase and the team went 3-3 on the weekend, but it was DD's last TB tournament. She heads off to college on July 2nd for the 2nd session of summer school. All I can say to the parents is "don't blink", time flies when you are having fun!

DD's team played well on Friday and Saturday but they imploded on Sunday. The only positive on Sunday was that DD hit a HR and after scoring came over to me and said Happy Father's Day.

That was a pretty good highlight video. Thanks for sharing. You have some pretty good players on that team, congrats on winning the tournament. That was a heck of a play for a 10u girl on that backhand at second base at the 2:30 mark.

Wasn't it? This is actually her first year of travel. She'd played All Stars but never travel before this fall. She started out with a 000 batting average most weekends, and rotating through right field. Busted her butt and is now starting 2B, center field, and lead off hitter. She's a pretty amazing kid!

DD 3's team came in 3rd in a tournament. DD 3 pitched two bracket games. First one she pitched very well, and won a close one. The other game she didn't pitch as well, but won run-rule in 3 innings. 2-0 for the weekend.

The main thing is, her pitching is FAR better than it was last year, and last year she was a pretty good pitcher. She was upset that her HS team put her on JV instead of Varsity, but being on JV meant that she pitched the vast majority of innings for her JV team. When TB season rolled around, her extra circle time really showed.
