My son hit his first over the fence HR today. The fence is 140' down the lines and 142' to center field. He is a 7u player that turns 8 next week, going into 2nd grade in August. About half of the kids are going into the 4th grade and the other half are going into 3rd grade. He is one of the youngest kids in the rec league. The ball cleared the fence by about 15' - 20' to dead center field. Wind was blowing straight in from center field pretty good today.

He had one hopped the fence 3 other times earlier this year and I thought we would have to wait until next year before he would hit one over the fence. I was standing in right field watching the game and when he hit the ball I remember yelling at the ball to get up, get up, get up, and the ball hit the other HR fence on the field behind the field we were playing on.

I ran out to center field and grabbed the ball. I remember the kids that were on defense turning around waiting for me to give them the ball back with there gloves up. I yelled from the outfield to my sons head coach that I wanted to keep the ball, he immediately went and grabbed a new game ball.

My son was so excited that he missed first base, he had to turn around and go back and touch the base. Then he sprinted as fast as he could around the rest of the bases. I am going to have to teach him the HR trot. lol
