DD's first All-Star tournament of the season was this past week. The first two games they played teams who didn't have great pitching so we basically run limited them every inning while only allowing each team to score 1. Going into Saturday, we knew the team we'd face would be a lot tougher.
Our pitcher had one of her best outings and allowed only 1 run (which should not have been a run anyway. Girls on 1st and 3rd with 2 outs. Girl tries to steal 2nd and our coaches say to go ahead and make the throw to get her - DD was SS and had the ball and tags the girl but it must have been out of site of the ump even though everyone else saw it - he calls her safe and the girl on 3rd steals home to score)
Go into the Championship game - against another really tough team.
Not a fan of how the tourney was scheduled as our first game was at 12 and then the championship was not scheduled until after 8 so our girls had WAY too much time to rest.
I've never seen that much downtime scheduled for the championship game and the team that we ended up playing, it was going to be their 3rd game in a row so they had the momentum.
Our girls just couldn't get it together and could NOT hit. Ended up losing that one 6-1.
The IF game was scheduled for Sunday and going into it - it seemed tough since we weren't sure we could hit off their pitcher.
Coach had a new game plan and we got out to an early lead and just held on with great defense and ended up wining 6-3! Would have rather been undefeated but it was probably good for the girls to see that they could be beat.
Next tourney we face both of those teams really early on so hopefully they can do well.
