This weekend we played against some A level teams, which we haven't done much of this spring. We're playing in USSSA A State next month so I was looking forward to see how the team would do, but nervous too. We ended up doing really well though, #2 seed in pool (3-0; gave up a run or two more than the #1 which was the team that ended up winning 1st place) then won 2nd place in the gold bracket. We beat a team from a very well known A level org 2-1 in bracket to make it to the championship. That game was one of the best we've ever played I think. No score til the 4th inning. They scored the first run and got wild, they were sure that was it (I thought it might be too, haha). Last inning, DD hit a triple, her BFF came up and laid down a perfect bunt. She was safe at 1B and DD scored. Next batter came up...walk off hit. :) We lost the championship only 6-3, and DD couldn't pitch thanks to a catcher landing on her hip in the previous game. The tournament was a MESS. They were way behind, we didn't finish playing til 2am and the girls were half asleep in the dugout. lol

DD pitched 1.5 games including that very close bracket game and gave up no earned runs. I have no idea where her bat came from this weekend but her batting average was 833. She hit 3 singles, a double, 3 triples and 3 in the park homeruns. No strike outs. One of those HRs bounced off the fence. Any day now she's going to hit her first one over.

You go :)

High school team is currently ranked 3rd in NY (AA). DD has been hitting very well against good pitching and got called up to varsity for their run at a state championship. Going to be a great experience for her.

DD 3 had an amazing game of Beat-the-Clock yesterday.
New rule in Wisconsin-- girls can play 2 games for their clubs in season. DD 3 joined the 8th graders and guest players for her club for two games yesterday of bracket play. She was tired and not pitching her best, but she had an amazing sequence.

First game she was down 8-7, 2 outs, runner on third, away team. New batter. Coach asks blue how much time left. Blue says 50 seconds. DD 3 threw strike, strike, ball, pop up in the next 40 seconds. Just beat the clock with a few seconds to spare. Her team scored 2 runs top of the last inning, held on for the win.

Your DD had 3 inside the park home runs in an A-level tournament with regulation fences?

Wasn't all A teams. There were 3 A teams there, and we played 2 of them. The homeruns were against B teams. One of the triples was against an A team; the rest, Bs. But they weren't singles with errors. ;)

DD's HS team went from being the lowest seed in the district tournament (only won one conference game during the season) to the district runner-up by battling our way thru the loser's bracket (we were run-ruled our first game). That earned up our first berth in the 5A state tournament in school history! Super proud of this young team and a great way to end DD's senior year and HS career. Oh and DD hit her first ever grand slam in game 3 - a bomb over the 224' left center fence that cleared by at least 10 feet!

While watching my daughter's game, I was within earshot of another team's coaches scouting us. They knew my daughter had thrown out a runner stealing but hadn't seen the play. One claimed he had seen her throw before and judged that she didn't have much of an arm. They decided the runner must have been slow. My ears burned, but I didn't say anything. As the game continued, she threw out one more on a straight steal at second and picked a girl off trying to take third on a delayed steal. I'm beginning to learn that I don't need to say anything because she can take care of herself. (but I'm still steamed about it)

That's two outs she got because you kept your mouth shut. Revenge is a dish best served cold, the best plate to serve revenge is home plate.

We are a first year 14U B team and played in an A/B tournament this weekend. We drew the eventual winner in round 1 of bracket play Sunday. DD playing center in the third or so and runner on 1 single to RC. We had been somewhat sloppy to this point and 3B coach was livid girl on 1 did not take third. DD had cut ball off well and was ready to gun 3 but threw to 2 when runner started back. Saved that coach an out, DD would have had her by 20'. Felt the same way you did but just sat there quietly. DD made a nice running grab in RC to end the inning, a play that looked easier than it was as she got a great jump. She's a pitcher, but she likes center a lot too!

They'll know her eventually
