The powerful Jurupa Hills softball players clobbered three home runs -- including two grand slams -- in a 17-4 demolition of San Gorgonio on May 8.

The first-place Spartans collected a total of 18 hits, including eight for extra bases, while improving their San Andreas League record to 14-0 with one regular season game remaining. They will begin action in the CIF playoffs next week.

Michelle Soltis crushed a grand slam and a single, scored two runs, and drove in five runs, while JaSha Roberts crunched a grand slam and a single. Sarah Rengifo clubbed a home run and a double, scored two runs, and knocked in three runs.

Faith Benavente went 4-for-4 with three runs and an RBI; Brittany Vicary had a triple, single, and two runs; Isabel Rocco had a double, single, and two runs; Samantha Sandoval had two singles, two runs, and an RBI; Alondra Vicary had a single, two runs, and an RBI; and Brianna Cantarero had a single and a run.

Trinity Buck was the winning pitcher, striking out six batters.

----- IN A PREVIOUS GAME, Rocco smashed a home run, double, and two singles as Jurupa Hills thrashed Rim of the World, 17-1, on May 5. Rocco drove in three runs and scored twice in her 4-for-5 performance.

Brittany Vicary went 3-for-4 with a home run, double, and single. She drove in six runs and scored twice. Samantha Sandoval slugged a home run and single, scored two runs, and drove in four runs.

Cantarero had two singles and two runs, Roberts doubled and had an RBI, and Benavente had two singles, a run, and an RBI. Other hits were supplied by Alondra Vicary, Angela Guerrero, Rengifo, Soltis, and Amanda Sandoval.

Guerrero did a great job on the mound, pitching a one-hitter over five innings.

----- IN ANOTHER GAME, Jurupa Hills rolled to a win over Rim by the same score, 17-1, as India Kelly went 4-for-4 with a home run and three singles. She scored four runs and knocked in two runs.

Rocco went 3-for-3 with a home run and two singles, scoring four runs and driving in six runs.

Samantha Sandoval doubled and singled and drove in three runs, Alondra Vicary doubled and singled and scored three runs, and Brittany Vicary had two singles, three runs, and one RBI. Roberts had two singles and an RBI and Benavente and Soltis each singled.

My dd's HS team has 3 more games. They have only gave up 161 runs so far. They have scored 51 runs, but one game they scored 14 runs and still lost 23 to 14. I honestly think my dd has thrown more pitches this HS season then she has thrown in 3 years of TB. They scored 16 runs in one game to a team that was worse then us. So if I take out the 4 games that we played against a team worse then we are. We have scored 9 runs.

DD's team only won one conference game so we headed in to districts as the lowest seed. Lost game one - run ruled in 3 innings. Won game two so we lived to play the second day but I honestly wasn't expecting much from the very young team. They showed up on day two ready to play, battled their way through the loser's bracket and ended up taking second place which means that we are going to the state tournament for the first time in school history! As if that wasn't enough, DD hit her first grand slam in the tournament! What a way to close out her HS career!!!

6 games left in the regular season and DD's team is 16-0. Everyone 1-9 is hitting the ball hard. They are just really gelling this season and there is only one senior on the team so next season looks very promising also. There's some drama but nothing major
