What did the DFP players get up to this weekend?

We played up in 12U and went 2-2. In the bracket game we played an 04 team. We're a relatively young and small 06. The size difference was almost comical. My DD pitched that game and seeing these girls who are bigger than I am come up to hit was scary. We lost, 9-1, but played a really good game. The older girls just hit everything. The coach sought us out to tell my DD she pitched really well and to tell us if he coached a 10U team he'd be scared to play us. I thought that was really nice of him. We had a really great day overall. Both the 12U teams we beat were good sports about it (I know it must stink to lose to a team playing up), the umpires were all nice and mostly made good calls. DD hit .567 for the weekend :)

We were more liberal than usual with our highlights. The tiny little short stop with all her outs in that one part in the middle, she was on fire this weekend.

DD signed her NLI on Friday! She will be playing at an NAIA school in Washington - she picked the school because of their great reputation in her major. Coach is fantastic, school is only 8 hours away and between her academic and athletic money she can get a high quality private school education for much less than an in-state university. So proud of her!!!

DD1 team won their regular season conference yesterday. I think they may get rings for it. DD2 a little sick on Saturday in her tourney. Sunday bounced back with 4 HR's in the 3 games. Top 8 finish with 60+ teams.

I would just like to thank the jackhole coach who heckled my DD while pitching for leaping, in an 11U friendly round robin no less. Not only does it help her concentration, its helps her to learn to deal with all kinds. If you lost 6 to 2, it might be you coach.

Scrimmages this weekend...picked a "fight" (ie invited an A level team) to come scrimmage with us...got straight up curb stomped...learning experience for the girls...played well, just didn't have the pitching speed to keep up. Our small ball defense was on point. Invited a solid B team too, won that game. Daughter is seeing the ball well and hitting some bombs...excited to see what's up coming this year. going to have a decent team.

We almost always lose scrimmages and it can work in our favor. TH night we scrimmaged one of the teams we would face this weekend. Our coaches never scrimmage to win. One inning per pitcher no matter what's going on, everybody hits, positions rotate every inning. They beat us 7 or 8 to 2 or 3 in the scrimmage (we don't even score keep them) so when we faced them on Saturday they severely underestimated us. We scored 6 runs in the first inning. Final score was 8-2. We took them by surprise :) There's one local team we've scrimmaged twice. I've heard some fairly cocky things out of some of them relating to our team. I can't wait to play them for real. They've only seen our scrimmage defense. Our game defense is pretty different!

DD got her license this morning. I'm kinda looking forward to not having to drive her to and from school and practice all of the time but it was kind of frightening watching her drive off in her own car to go to school
