Monday brag 4-10-17

We had an awesome weekend. Took home some hardware on Sat night. DD pitched a no hitter with only one walk again in the championship. The team we beat has really good pitching for 10U b level ball (3 solid low to mid 40s pitchers who aren't wild). They play a lot of low level tournaments and win a lot. DD pitched the bracket against them and the championship. She overheard the coaches talking about how we only won because she pitched both games. Coincidentally we had a fundraiser game scheduled against them for yesterday. HC gave every pitcher on our team an inning except my DD. She pitched not at all. Even our little newbie pitcher who just started lessons got an inning. And we won 7-3. That was a good feeling. No, my DD does not carry our team, thankyouverymuch. We have great defense. Robbed them of a homerun when our tiny 2B threw home from cut off in center field and the catcher tagged her out. I like to brag on our whole team. Love those girls.

For the weekend DD hit 600. In just under 15 innings pitched she had no earned runs, 25 strike outs, and only one walk. 82% first pitch strikes, which is definitely a record for her.

DD pitched in first tournament this weekend. In pool play pitched a 5 inning shutout, then came in for 1.1 innings of relief in the second game and gave up no runs. Only pitched 1.1 innings of relief in bracket play (we got blown out in the first game) gave up 1 run.

ok gonna do it lol, DD 12yr old, 7th grader, started and won her first Varsity start on Sat. Pitched a complete game and only gave up 2 earned. Very happy Dad She hit one out foul as well on the mens diamond lol, bench went crazy even for a foul ball. It was a bomb!

DD had a good opening weekend to her HS varsity career. 5 for 11, a 2B that hit bthe base of the fence, a couple sac bunts and 2 HBP hitting in the 2-hole. Lost in the semi-finals of a HS tourney to a team ranked 13th in our state. Not a bad start for her, or the team.

DD HS team played the district leader last Friday night and fellow DFPer Maksoftball's DD plays on that team too. They run ruled us in 5 innings in the first match up. This time we actually competed. The score was 5-1 going into the top of the 7th and they scored 4 more. 9-1 final score with DD getting the only RBI for our team. They have a really good young pitcher. Could be district MVP IMO.

Here's the cool part. DD turned 16 last month and took the driver's test on Wednesday (failed-a whole nother story). After the game is over the players go through the field house to drop off their gear and come out the front the gate. We bought her a car(2004 4runner). As she emerged from the field house, I gave her the keys and said it's yours kid, you deserve it. Her eyes started welling up and she was laughing. I knew that would make her feel good after losing that game. She still has to have me in the car when she is driving though. ha!

Saturday morning DD had her best game pitching - 3 innings, 0 runs, 0 hits, 9 Ks. Her changeup was working really well, and her coach had enough confidence in it that he was calling for it early in the count instead of only on 0-2 or 1-2.

In the afternoon, she played up for a game (the team was shorthanded) and got a hit off the league's best 10U pitcher. She also played solid defense including a perfect read on an overthrow that deflected off 3B's glove.

So not a bad Saturday going into spring break.

DD's team had their struggles this weekend. They ended up 0 and 3, but could have been at least 2 and 1. They are so close to being a great team...they just have a few things to clean up. 4GG turned into 3 because they didn't get on the field early enough Friday to get it ready. Total BS because every other field had their games Friday night. DD had a solid weekend.5 for 6 at the plate with a walk and a double, and zero errors.

That's a great % for anyone. There is a great correlation between FPS and outs. Sounds like all the work she is putting in is paying off. Congrats on a great weekend.
