So this is more of a shameless coach brag, than a shameless parent brag, but I like to think of the girls as my own, so that's my logic in posting here.

Currently coaching 8U machine pitch, and had our first scrimmage the other day. Probably got in about 40 total at-bats, and every single girl (top to bottom) was teeing off! Out of those 40 at-bats, we only had 2 K's. So, ya, I'm super proud of those girls!

First game is on Wed., so hopefully they keep it up!

Good for you.

Strike out swinging never bothered me at this age, swing the dang bat!

Your Team seems to have that down.

At 18U nothing concerns me more than a team of hitters that can pull the trigger and swing with conviction. If I had my way it would be machine pitch through 10U. In the big picture nothing a kid does in the circle at 10U or even 12U matters and most just end up with crap mechanics that need to be fixed later.

Thanks!

Ya, they've got it down, for sure. Now I just need to get them to lay off the pitches that are over their head!

We still do coach pitch (although a pitch machine did mysteriously appear in the equipment locker last weekend...) up to 3rd grade, and then again after 3-4 walks in 4th & 5th grades. I hope I can pitch as poorly as your machines! That's a tough # to match - let alone beat.

Keep teaching that "softball" swing! :)

Couldn't agree more.
Machine pitch they begin to develop swings then the following year it's kid pitch and they maybe see 1-2 pitches a game to hit. The rest are rolling up there or over their head. I swear it's why some girls begin to not want to play.
