We had another 7GG this weekend. It was 7 pool, top 2 teams in each of 2 pools would go to semifinals. We missed it by one game but the girls were done in anyway. We had the earliest game Sat, and also the latest game. Then we had 3 overtime innings (GREAT game). Didn't get home til midnight and some people lived farther away than we did, then back for another early game on Sunday. They were just completely out of gas.

But it was a great weekend overall. DD's been struggling with her bat a lot this spring. Popping up, striking out. This weekend she had only one strike out (2, really, but got on with a dropped third on one). This weekend she hit .615 and it wasn't off of the pitching we saw last weekend when she hit well, which was basically like coach pitch it was so slow.

She pitched more this weekend and had no pain again. Saturday she looked slow but Sunday she found her groove. In about 15 innings she struck out 23 batters. 70% first pitch strikes.

10u DD played 3 scrimmage games this weekend, first tournament of the season next weekend. In her only game the circle, 2 hit one of the better 10u teams in our area in 5 innings before time ran out. No comment on her hitting, lol. Also in practice last week DDs FB jumped from high of 47mph to 49mph on the pocket radar (she uses a 12" ball in practice too).

DD had a HS game last week. She is a senior but it is a very young varsity team. They blew a 10-4 lead after 5 innings to end up getting beat 15-10 - very frustrating and quite ugly defensively. DD had a great game at the plate - went 3-4 with a single, a double, a right center field 2 run homer that cleared our 225' fence by at least 15' and which the local newspaper called "a towering home run" and 4 RBIs. With 6 games in the books, DD's batting a .609 with 4 HRs 22RBIs, an OBP of .654 and a 2.217 SLG.

DD played her first games of the spring and with her new team yesterday in a four game indoor tournament at the Chiefs indoor training camp facility. She was overanxious the first two both hitting and catching, but settled down in both areas the final two games. She still didn't get a hit but got an RBI of a long fly ball. Glad the season has started.

DD had a HS double header and got her first official Varsity win in the circle. Now we just need the first varsity hit.

DD is at the beach on Spring Break with her friends and has not been arrested...does that count?

DD 3 pitched what might be the only inning she will pitch until May. (She will be in California looking at colleges, and her school changed from 2 games scheduled to 5 and now 6 while she is gone, so her team will bench her one game for every game she misses, meaning she will miss over half the season. We are hoping for clear skies in Cali and torrential rain storms in Wisconsin while we are gone, to get a better trip and fewer missed games.)

But, what a great inning! On offense she scored 3 runs that inning off of 2 hits and a walk, and pitching she went K, groundout, K in the mud. The other team couldn't handle the mud, and their pitcher couldn't find the strike zone. They called the game on run rule and rain 21-0 after 1 inning, so technically, DD 3 pitched a perfect game!

DD 3 tends to look her best in the rain and mud. The worse the weather, the more she shines. It's not that the rain and mud don't bother her, but that she can adjust much better than other girls. That is the second time she has pitched in pouring rain and a muddy mound, and the second time she run ruled the other team in the rain. Her bad weather pitches get down to 50 or even slower, but they find the strike zone.

You know the old horse racing saying.

"If her fodder was a mudder, and her mudder was a mudder...then she's going to be a great mudder".
