Proud of DD2's team this weekend. Playing in the quarterfinals on Sunday morning, they faced a team that had two of their former teammates. Parents of said former teammates pulled them from the team over the winter break because they felt their daughters needed to play for a better team. One girl was our team's best pitcher and 2nd best hitter. The other girl was the 3rd best hitter and 2nd catcher. DD2's team won, 9-5. DD2 went 2-2 with a triple and a single.

DD was asked to play up in a 10U game this weekend. (Her league allows shorthanded teams to get subs from younger divisions.)

10U coach spent less than 5 minutes explaining his defense and the rule differences between 8U and 10U. Then he put DD in RF, where she never missed one of coach's signals and even got to show off her arm a little.

She also got a hit and stole a base, and ran the bases aggressively. The coach was definitely happy with her.

We didn't play this weekend but we had a long practice with lots of running, then live pitching, and DD had zero pain. So we're back to full pitch practices, and she'll get to pitch this weekend assuming the pain doesn't come back sometime this week. We're easing back in. Fingers crossed. She's VERY excited.

DD's HS team traveled 7 hours south to the one and only tournament that we are allowed to play in. The team is very young - only 4 returning varsity players with only 2 of those varsity players that had any previous playing time (DD is the only player to have started varsity for all 4 years). Her team played really well - outscored our opponents 53-30 and won our pool (however due to our state rules we were not allowed to play in the championship). DD had an outstanding weekend at the plate - went 9-13 with a walk, 2 singles, 4 doubles, 3 home runs and 15 RBI's.

We had a ball soaking up the sunshine (75-80 degrees both days), watching some great softball and seeing the team be successful. It was a great confidence boost for this very young team!:D

DD had her first pitching lesson yesterday being back at full pitch. She hit a new record, and we are officially in the 50s. Her previous clocked record was 49 but yesterday she hit 52. Her high running in is 54 but I don't count that for anything. You can't run in in games. Seems like anytime we take a few weeks off she gains a few MPH. We try not to be too focused on speed but this is a pretty exciting one :)

This past weekend, DD's team won but DD didn't do much except get hit twice and walk..
Yesterday they played and DD had a double, a walk and an in the park grand slam.
She doesn't generally hit that well when bases are loaded and it was on the first pitch. Hit far enough that she was able to get home w/o even a play at the plate.
They've only played 3 games but so far DD is leading her team in every batting stat except she's got 1 less hit than another girl..

Dd10 plays LL 10u. She hit her first home run of the season last night. She smashed it to center, and it was at the fence when it quit rolling. The other team had made the mistake of playing their outfielders in close (plus she has some wheels on her), so she was rounding third by the time their CF picked it up.

Our first outdoor tournament of the year was over the weekend in New Melle, MO. As a team they went 1 and 3, but battled in some close games against some really good teams. It's early in the year and they are only going to get better. I see a lot of good things coming this summer. DD had a really good weekend. She played shortstop for a few games and played center a little bit. No errors at all and she almost gunned down a runner tagging from third while she was in center. She hit about .400 for the weekend, and in their last game yesterday hit a single (slap hit up the middle), double (opposite field), and triple to the fence (pulled an inside pitch down the first base line). I'm pretty proud of the fact that she took what the pitcher gave her and made it work. The D had no idea how to defend her, which is a huge deal for her.
