Hitting down on the ball--how to fix

I have my 8 yr olds hit out of a 45 in the games and practice. At this age you can complicate things. I know I’ve done that, keep it simple.

    Ball/Hand orientation at 3 o'clock

Just a follow up from July. Kayden has been working on her FSR . Making some progress but still stepping forward. Yesterday she controlled it allot better. The freeze frame of her and Monica Abbott is the posture she’s been trying to land in for a long time. Thanks

This is our next part of the posture we want to focus on. Ava started talking lessons from me in June.

I don’t teach the pitching motion back to front but up and over. Some teach stride length but my players actually slowed down when we focused on that. The hips moving forward is more important to speed than just stride length has been my experience.

The other measurement I use is where is the ball when the stride leg is down and loaded. The drive mechanics Java wrote has a lot of great informatio.

I used Amanda’s mechanics as a measurement. With the ball straight out from the shoulders the drive leg should be detached from the plate.

    Movement Pattern Mystery?

I feel it’s a bracing issue of the torso and shoulders.

    Group question, help

Here’s how I work with a HE in to IR pitcher. Maybe it can give you an idea.

    Movement Pattern Mystery?

i also see better FSR in the older video. The current video her body breakdown going in to and after the snap. In still photos it looks ok but in the video you see no firming up of the torso and shoulders.

Yes, we have and will continue to work on that.

Front toss - keeping weight back drills

I’m a big fan of hitting out of a 45. Here’s Haley‘s warm up routine when hitting off the pitching machine. This is how she gets her timing. This is after tee work and dry swings.
