Can you tag a players hair?

Had an umpire the other day call an out on a tag play and said the short stop tagged her hair, not her head, just her hair. He said the hair is just like the uniform and can be tagged for an out. Is that true? Thanks

    rbi's

Our kids did a good job being more selective on 0 or 1 strike counts...looking for their pitch in the latter part of the season, also did a nice job with 2 strikes. Our on base percentage and batting average ended up really good but our scoring percentage was awful, we stranded a bunch of...

    2 strike approach

I know this has been covered but in the be aggressive thread Jim said this was a whole other thread:) Were doing a better job narrowing the strike zone with 0 and 1 strike, but we havent talked alot about a 2 strike approach yet with our team. What is yours if any?

    This coaches letter

The coaches letter thread got me thinking if mine sucks or not, what better place to get an honest critique then right here. This is what I sent out this year, which is different from last year, and the year before, and so on. First year 14u. Hi all, First off, thanks to everyone for joining...

    43' to 40'

Our #1 pitcher pitches 43' during the week and 40' during tournaments. She is throwing the ball a little high at 40', (understandably) is this just to be expected until HS ball is over and she is pitching at only 40'?

    lead off slump

I have tried 3 different kids at lead off, all hit well in the middle, all around high 400's to low 500's. They are all fast, as soon as I put them in the lead off spot they tank......O'fer everything. Is that common? How can I help them approach the lead off spot different? 14u

    I dont believe anyone.

Thats not totally true. Goingdeep posted this video in another thread about the dropball but I did not want to hijack that thread. His quote was, I am not trying to single him out, MANY people have the same opinion. He posted this video to support that claim. You have to be quick with the...

    Turf field

Who has played on turf? What should we expect? Do they wear their regular cleats? Were playing on our first turf field in a few weeks in seattle.

    Wood bat practice

We are buying all our 14u players wood bats for cage work during the winter. Reason for are, reduced sweet spot will hopefully train the girls to select better pitches to hit, any swing flaws will be maginified and therefore hopefully easier to target and fix, they must swing faster and harder...

    Setting up on the corner?

I just watched necc’s video again but it doesn’t really address a catcher setting up on the corners. Everything in there drills had the catcher shifting the center line of there body to receive pitches on the corners. Not sure if that was just for learning how to receive or what. Question is...

    Calling the ball

What verbal commands/body commands do you teach; 1) infielder calling her own ball 2) infielder calling off another infielder 3) outfielder calling off an infielder IMO mine, mine, mine is to vague and if calling off another player they are both saying the same thing...but...to many verbal...

    pitch outs and intentional walks

How often do your pitchers practice these skills? I watched a 14u game this season and the coach asked for an intentional walk, the catcher and pitcher were clueless as he was trying to coach them though it from the dugout. On the 3rd attempt the batter stepped in and drilled it over the 2nd...

    rehabing from knee surgery

Our first baseman is currently rehabing from knee surgery and cannot fully practice until about Jan. I will preface by saying we will not do anything with out her physical therapists consent. I have told her not to worry about her spot her knee should be her #1 concern. I know there are...

    bat drag and seperation

Been working on daughters drag issue by seperating a little more. We look at video of game swings and she doesnt seperate much if at all. Without seperation there is no room for rear elbow forward movement (slotting), so I have been having her start with her hands and elbow just behind her...

    pitching limits

I am in a situation where I feel I need to protect my daughters arm. She is 12 and I am going to use a chart I found for boys to start limiting her pitches and let the coach decide how to finish games. What do you guys think? The chart says for a 12 yo, 75 pitches per game, 100 pitches per week.

Is this an end loaded, or balanced bat? What are your thoughts on the bat?

    NSA catch and carry

Not sure if catch and carry is the rule but..... ball hit in air down left field line.... a running left fielder who is inbounds touches the ball but ball is out of bounds according to ump, (player is reaching out over the line).....player drops the ball and ump calls it a foul. Is is where the...
