    Teaching hitting Carrier/Bustos approach

Here is a senior. Started with me late summer. Had a flat bat pure level swing, knob to ball taught. She asked if I could give her a better swing. She worked hard and at end of winter went to a camp and got an offer to play in college. Very athletic shortstop. All my girls stretch a different...

    Teaching hitting Carrier/Bustos approach

I tell my hitters that the throw they work on is more like an outfield throw. Its more about the stretch straight back. I also tell them a hard shot to them will be fielded with both hands. Some throws will be side armed ect. The straight back stretch is more for the hitting and learning to...

    Teaching hitting Carrier/Bustos approach

The reason for teaching throwing first is If they separate and take the ball behind their head, they will hit like that. Also fixing future arm pain problems. Like most catchers I get are taught a short snap throw. They also have no arm separation hand to back hip when they hit. My goal is not...

All really good infielders. The girl got voted golden glove by the league coach's... third baseman, plays in college same position. All infielders using throwing arm for balance. And puts there throwing arm in a good height to throw down hill. SL

Teach throwing mechanics first before you hit....(: Catching with one hand. Demo by a 12 year old, in her 3rd year with me. This is something I teach along with hitting and throwing. Throwing arm is used for balance . Hand continues to cheek to meet glove hand. That puts arm in a good height to...

This is an 8th grader. Been with me over 3 years. She has gone yard 7-9 times playing pretty high level travel ball. I like her bat speed and how she gets off the backside. SL

If you did 6-8 of these during a lesson, I really don't see a problem with it. SL

    Teaching hitting Carrier/Bustos approach

Mr. Hillhouse you are mistaken. He was with team China in Olympics as the hitting coach. I guy from Canada I believe was the head coach. His name began with a B I think. Also the story of Bustos is correct. Her dad and uncle taught her how to hit. Howard taught her how to hit it farther. SL

    Teaching hitting Carrier/Bustos approach

One of my 6th graders. In October started her third year with me. This is something I teach. Parallel to contact. She has a good chance to hit the ball square. Old baseball term, squaring a ball. We learn to do the sequence in slow motion first. Load (straight down in legs, no going backwards)...

    Is all bat lag bad?

You can hit all different ways. Some good hitters are just athletic even though they dont have perfect mechanics. I do believe elbows working together is a much more powerful swing verses swings above in video... SL

Rope Bat reviews. Yay or Nay?

I use one of these almost every lesson after I have taught them a big part of the swing mechanics. Some love it after awhile, most frown for awhile until they learn to use it. SL

She has been coming two years. I give lessons every 2 weeks mid September to may in my pole barn. That is about 15 lessons if you make everyone. I do may on the field. So in 2 years probably around 25-30 lessons. These mechanics only work if they do their homework. The ones who play 3 sports...
