I would shift your focus to the concept of "hip hinge". Jerry Brewer of East Bay Hitting used to talk a lot about it. In my opinion this is what creates space to get behind ball early and gives freedom to move/work through the ball. Right now her torso is basically vertical above her lower half.
She do any legitimate strength and conditioning? I still believe people are kind of tilting at windmills in trying to pursue a high level swing without a seriously strong core
I like this one as well. Interesting that he doesn't like hitting off a tee. Choke up on bat drill reminds me of boardmember days, I like it...Inside the Cage with Cody B

Howser - Coil into rear hip and dont give it up. Learn to turn barrel. Can't do one without the other, or you will never establish a "corner". Right now she is pushing with her back leg out of the bit of coil she establishes. Hands are pushing fwd with out front whip. She is so athletic...
pushing up and out with back leg. coiling then giving up the coil. then she cant keep the corner thus the hand related comments. watch kelly's gif hip hand relationship, much different
You can still do everything in sequence a swing requires (including coil) .. Simply tell her instead of gaining ground - do it in place, not a big deal at all. Without video this kind of a circle jerk, but just show her the gif of bo jackson.
There it is! Probably is her timing mechanism - Bo Jackson could hit ok.. Sure some coach told her to quit moving around in the box/ get set/ quiet down - lost her timing mechanism. If she's raking when she does it - then thats all it is
I think you're right. Swing is slower without. I kind of view it as more of a scrunch combined w/scap engagment Jerry Brewer talked about on his blog - I think it was called "micro moves - front shoulder" or something similar. I know one program where it is actively taught, you can see their...
I would argue barrel path is affected by lower half and core relationship. If you are into rear hip coil, she needs to learn how to do it correctly. If the various discussions on FBC don't work for you, look at noontime's BB/A$$. At least it is very descriptive and you can duplicate for...
1) youre going to "cast" when you're out of sequence - she's out of sequence. 2) loads her hands early, so they leave the starting block early and they roll over early. if you pretend there is a pane of glass that is bisecting her body vertically - her hands should stay on the right side of...
To get the "feel" I just think its easier to learn on "low stuff" So we hit golf balls with golf clubs and we hit baseball/softballs off gatorade bottles after you get the "feel" then you can work your way up
Great post. Just like when you start playing golf w/o any formal instruction. At first you shoot in the 120's, get it down to 100, then you break a hundred, then 90 but cant get thru 85. personally, you think you're making great strides. Then you play with someone that is really good and he...
We get pretty good pricing on Mirage M-322. Same feel as other balls used in tourneys. I will buy more of these for BP. I think buying cheap/softer balls for bp is a mistake, dont get the same feedback
I personally think so but what the heck do I know. I have always liked this description. Also found going back and reading Boardmember's posts/discussions on the move, in light of this noontime description, to be useful
From GAGS - But really - it's almost a case-by-case basis. You want to help them be successful, but you don't want to coach out of them any athletic movement.
Let them find their own style. Worst thing I did with my son was let other coaches "coach" his natural style out of him, he's 14 now...
