    13U self-taught pitcher - please critique

She was getting a sore front shoulder throwing the changeup in the video posted previously in this thread. We rested and then modified her release. So far so good. This release better matches the form of her other 2 pitches.

Today we focused on her changeup. I like the 2nd pitch better. Her neck and head shift to her left slightly at landing making it easier for the back of her hand to become more horizontal during the follow thru.

    Leaping? Or replanting?

This link is game footage of Hillhouse in 1993. Opposing pitcher was the Zack man. Hillhouse won the game. Watch how he uses his pivot foot at landing. Does his technique in this game match the new legal method for women?

    Leaping? Or replanting?

At replant of the video being discussed, notice how the pivot foot rolls and turns with a heel lift. This action of the pivot foot is transferring momentum to the frontside and also creating additional forward momentum/force. The stride foot does not have to move more forward to receive that...

    Leaping? Or replanting?

What does second impetus mean when referring to the landing of the pivot foot? First impetus is from the rubber. If any additional "force(second impetus)" is created by the pivot foot into the stride foot at landing, even if it is a more forceful weight shift, is that considered to be a second...

    Arm whip

I was a setpro website follower for swinging the bat many years ago. I had purchased a radar timing device from setpro many years ago that I used for our high school softball team that we used for reaction time swing initiation. I think the "Boardmember" adduction/IR concept and setpro's...

Insurance concerns and also Indiana HS state rules do not allow middle school students to play high school sports.

    13U self-taught pitcher - please critique

The pitcher in this thread is a 2028 grad so her 14U team will more than likely not be able to play in the spring due to the temporary loss of players that are Freshmen in High school on her 14u team. I don't know what the plans are as of yet for the spring. Someone mentioned merging with...

    13U self-taught pitcher - please critique

She continues to get better. I have some more clips to share. She is not a typical drive and drag pitcher. She is a leaper with her stride foot landing first or at the same time as her drive foot. These are pitching clips of her most recent game. .

For fun - we spent 5 minutes today on moving/re-centering the pivot foot under the body. Unweighting then loading for the drive. Then, for fun, we added lifting the stride leg higher to see what types of drive, leap, and drag she might end up with.

Our focus is to do all things within the guidlines of creating adduction and maintaining adduction to shoot the ball across the hips. Thank-you BoardMember. Boardmember also has a post where he talks about how a tetherball wraps around a post. We spent time in one lesson on that concept. I...

I will post a video update soon. We have talked about and worked on FSR but no more so than any other issue. She has had an incredible fall season pitching, team winning the Nov 2023 USSSA Fall Nationals 14U open division

    13U self-taught pitcher - please critique

She throws mid 50 I had worked with her 2 times prior to the day this video was taken. Her legs and feet remind me of a 14U Southern Force pitcher from Indiana back in 2008 or so that threw upper 60s to 70 as well as game footage of Jimmy Moore. I showed her Moore's change-up grip and process...

    14U - please critique - thanks

Here are a couple of new vids! Here is what I initially see. 1. her arm goes behind her back on the backswing. 2. her landing foot is good and timing of her arm at 9:00 looks good but she remains a little too open at landing causing all pitches to go inside. I will attempt to fix the arm...

    12U - this weekend - please critique - thanks

I appreciate the analysis from everyone. Her dad's vids are all I have to go on. I can see a timing issue, an early wide glove swing out issue, laces not turning over issue. Also the arm is very long early. Which one should I work on first with the hopes it improves the others? Thanks everyone.

    Bill Hillhouse interview

I have a 12 year old that I have worked with for a little over a year. She throws heat for 12. Easily between 55 and 58. She whips and brushes and throws hard. However, because her release is brush timed, she struggles with a consistent palm and finger position at release to consistently...
