My 9yo daughter wants to be a catcher, and went to a clinic recently. One of the other catchers had a 31 inch A440 that my dd, who is small, liked very much. She finds most mitts too heavy. This mitt has been discontinued. Can anyone suggest a substitute?
Just a guess: ESPN2 probably wouldn't have shown it if it had been streamed. If they're going to take the game they want all the viewers paying for their service and watching their advertisers.
Mental thing, quincy, the more she fears hitting batters, the more batters she's going to hit. Not wanting to hit a batter creates the mental image of hitting the batter, and the body doesn't understand English. Time for some visualization, maybe a batter cutout for practice.

Flippant answer: choose the best team.:) Seriously, though, it just depends on your issues. Does she not...
An A team that explodes because the coaches were jerks and re-forms with totally different players may not be an A team anymore. A good B team that has a great attitude and work ethic and picks up a couple of key players might punch over their weight. We had somewhat similar situations, your...
Hey, Screwball, I like you.
Plato said that our vision is a light that emanates from our eyes, and illuminates that which we see. Our awareness often represents a choice. I don't know what has gone on back channel, but I think there is plenty here on the forum that is not arrogant and macho...
Coaching philosophy has a lot to do with it. I know a travel team that wanted to hang with the best A teams but couldn't quite do it. The coaches wanted very badly to beat the top teams so they optimistically pitched their two best pitchers against teams that beat them severely and...
I recorded everything I could from WCWS, so I'll look when I have a minute. There are certainly some college pitchers I've seen who retain the hello elbow follow-through, but just as a style thing like Finch and the young pitcher in this thread. In my video challenge, I was referring to...
It's been a while since I did this spiel. When my daughter started pitching, her instructor said EXACTLY the same thing okc says. Push through, hand behind the ball, snap your wrist (a strong wrist snap can add 5mph to the pitch!) and point your elbow at the catcher. I spent several months...
BoardMember, on your IR in the classroom thread I posted a question about moving IR from partial circle drills, where it's happening, to the full motion, where it's not. It must have gone unnoticed, so I'm mentioning it here since this thread obviously has your eye. : )
Thanks
Just about every time my 11yo daughter pitches, she gets a stitch in her right side (throws right-handed) as soon as she starts into the full arm circle. She starts with jogging around the field and some stretches, then throws lightly overhand for a few minutes. Partial circle warmups are...
You should see some drop at that speed. Don't worry too much about it, just watch the spin as it comes in. If you see nice tight vertical or near vertical spin she's doing fine.
