Hey there, I haven't been here in a while, but I am looking for some suggestions to help get my DD's swing going in the right direction. It looks to me like the swing is too long and the bat gets too far behind her. Can anyone suggest some T-drills to keep her from doing this? Thanks
I need to bump up the DD to a little longer bat. I don't really want to pay $350 for a new CF8 Sprite -11. Those have been on the market for a while haven't they? When does Demarini come out with new models and drop the price of the last year's model?
We are considering a move to W. Los Angeles. My daughter is a 12U catcher who loves to play competitive fastpitch. I don't want to drive far, so I am trying to find a good league for her if we make the move. The only league I can find is the Santa Monica Fastpitch League which looks interesting...
My daughter must moved up to 12U and is playing fall ball. Last season she used the team's basic Easton catcher's set. Now I am getting her her own set. I have tried a bunch of stuff, so here is some feedback for what has and hasn't worked. My daughter just turned 11 and is one of the smaller...
Hi all! My smallish daughter is moving up to 12U and I want to upgrade her from the Easton stuff she used last year. I am looking at the Schutte leg guards, which look great. The Schutte helmet, however, is a one size fits all. My daughter has a really small head and I am afraid it will be too...
My daughter played catcher her 10U season and her old 11" Wilson A440 didn't get much use. She used 11" balls in her 10U league.
I want to get her a fielding glove: one that is usable in both infield and outfield. The 12U leagues she is moving into uses 12" balls so we need a glove with a...
We have all seen the ruts that develop in the batter's box. They were particularly bad last weekend in our 4-day tournament. The girls' feet were almost always in an awkward position. Oftentimes I noticed the batter didn't want to step right in the ruts so they would stand on the slope furthest...
A coach recently told me of the importance of where the girls' eyes should be focused in an at bat before the pitch is released. He told me that the batter's eyes should be on the pitcher's torso around the hip where the pitch will be released. The batter, he said, should make sure not to look...
The below quotation by Eric F describes my daughter's present state. She has a fundamentally pretty good swing. She swings hard and she hit a home run a few tournaments back. We have spent years on the mechanics of her swing. It is frustrating at this stage because I am watching her teammates...
My daughter is a 10U catcher with pretty small hands. I got the 31.5" All-Star catcher's mitt, but it looks like a pretty small pocket. She is moving up to 12U this fall and the ball size goes up to 12". I am thinking this mitt will be unusable at the 12U level. I just purchased a 32" Shoeless...
Hi members, my 10u daughter needs some protection for her throwing wrist/forearm when catching. I purchased this Evoshield product
Amazon.com: EvoShield Protective Baseball Wrist Guard,Navy,Small: Sports & Outdoors
but I don't think a rigid piece of protective gear will be appropriate on her...
My daughter's 10U team has a station during hitting practice where the girls stand in front of a big boxing punching bag and swing into it. The bag is right about where contact would be so hitting the bag stops the girls' swing abruptly at that point. This seems like a bad drill to me. Shouldn't...
My daughter has been asked to catch by our 10U coach and we are learning quickly (Thanks to Eric F and the NECC video). But, there is one thing that cropped up that I can't figure out. I have seen references to 2 different types of stances. One is like the one I have seen in my version of the...
My family and I are thinking about a move to the Los Angeles area. My daughter plays 10U asa ball (first year) and she really enjoys it. What are a few of the better programs in the LA area? We are looking at the Pasadena area which is close to Sierra Madre, which seems to be reputable. What...
My daughter just made her first 10U ASA team. Here is some slo-mo vid. of her swing. It seems to me that she does a pretty good job of keeping her hands close to her body and throwing the knob toward the pitcher. Her stride looks a little off to me, which she is just incorporating. The follow...
My daughter played 4th grade rec. ball earlier this spring/summer. I have been coaching her swing since kindergarten and it was the best on the team mechanically. It certainly has a long ways to go, but as many of you know at 4th grade rec. ball most of the girls have bat drag, swing with their...
My daughter is 9 and starting her first year of player-pitch next year. Is there a hitting or pitching coach that anyone on this site knows of that they can recommend. It would be just one lesson, but it would be fun for her to get a lesson from a real pro. She is thinking about pitching next...
I am a youth rec. coach and the only thing I ever hear from the parents in the stands and other coaches is "get your back elbow up" when they miss a ball. I mean, the elbow shouldn't be tucked in to the side, but it also shouldn't be pointed toward the sky. I am convinced this is just what...
