    Pitching/Exposure Opportunity

We have a pitching opportunity this weekend (and/or the Summer) on a high level 18 gold team (one of our three pitchers recently became injured). Our team will be playing Triple Crown Zoom into June in Southern California this coming weekend and has a schedule consisting of five games against...

    The death of JV Softball???

I agree with earlier post. Travel ball replacing rec ball is getting kids to quit earlier. Way too much pressure for everyone to be great at a young age. Sport specialization is probably also a factor in taking some of the fun away. Northern California high school softball is the weakest I...

    Obstruction during a rundown

Is there a different set of rules for obstruction during a rundown/pickle? Standing in front of a base waiting for a throw is obstruction for all other plays, but does not get called during rundown unless there is contact with a fielder who does not have the ball.

    Pure barrels or cut!

I think there needs to be a distinction between the "thought/feeling of swinging down on the ball" and actually doing it. Having pelvic tilt and a contact point out in front can yield a positive attack angle (uppercut) even when the hitter is trying to swing down at the ball. In my experience...

    interference by 3rd base coach??

Back door at third?? What if she had taken home on the play?? That shouldn't change the call, but a play at the plate has certainly been impacted.

    interference by 3rd base coach??

Thanks to you all for the feedback.

    interference by 3rd base coach??

Interference called by umpire. "Ball deflected off of coach not in coach's box may have impeded defense's ability to make a play". Girl on third was ruled out. Batter-runner on second moved back to first.

    interference by 3rd base coach??

And does this rule imply coach must be in coach's box if for the ball to remain live (see exception) SECTION 5 COACHING ART. 5 . . . Offensive team personnel, other than the base coach, shall not be near a base to which a runner is advancing or returning; nor shall anyone fail to vacate any...

    interference by 3rd base coach??

Umpire referred me to this rule.... SECTION 6 THE RUNNER IS OUT A runner is out when: ART. 16 . . . Any coach or member of the offensive team, other than a runner, interferes with a defensive player’s opportunity to make a play. This includes, but is not limited to: a. The coach near...

    interference by 3rd base coach??

PGF rules (NFHS) Runner on second. No outs. Clean basehit to the outfield. Ball thrown towards homeplate by outfielder. Third base coach vacates coach's box towards home plate and holds up the runner at third. Thrown ball was errant and well wide of home plate. Deflects off a fielder and...

A new spin tool I created

To me this appears to be a significantly better version of the "hockey puck spinner" which in my opinion has much more pronounced feedback than a line ball. I would think this would be helpful for overhand throwing as well. Looks like you can throw it full speed ...

    RevFire / Pocket Radar recommendations

I have a RevFire in great condition that I'm willing to part with. Comes with carrying bag and two softballs. One softball pretty much new and one ball with a stripe in good condition. PM me if you want to make me an offer...

Demarini bats that fail compression test

Two Demarini CF7 Hope 31/21 bats failed on my daughter's team at ASA Nationals. One was 6 months old, other was 15 months old. Warranty rep told me the bats show no structural damage and would not get replaced. They also told me they never heard of any issue with their bats failing compression...

    Bad Blue - IP call

After reading this can't help myself but to bring up another situation that i witnessed with umpires that don't know the rules that i saw last weekend at 14U-A ASA tournament. Saturday pool play everyone batting and in lineup. 1st inning: 1st baseman and pitcher swap positions for one out. 2nd...

    Maximum Efficiency

Finch very different. 9 oclock at heel plant. Apparently no arm bend prior to release. Scarborough 11 oclock at heel plant with Pauly-like arm bend. Pretty big range between the two. I wonder which makes more sense from a kinetics standpoint. Saw earlier post that they claim 11 oclock is...

    Maximum Efficiency

Rich B, Rick P, (and others with knowledge), I pose these three questions... 1. Where is the most efficient place for arm/ball to be at toe touch? (I see best pitchers between 9 and 12.). 2. How much bend in elbow is most efficient at 12 and 9 o'clock? (Men seem to bend much more??) 3. How much...

Portable backyard lighting for pitching practice.

We have some cheap outdoor halogen lights that are positioned just behind and to the side of both the pitcher and the catcher. I have them on extension cords and put them away after we are done. That works well for us.

    Show off your wagon's

Just completed my first season with this one. No complaints. I don't give my kids rides in it, but it could probably handle it. Amazon.com: Tipke 2100 Marine Fold-It Utility Cart: Patio, Lawn & Garden

    Spreading out the uh...poor hitters

Why can't you DP/Flex in the Fall?

How much break for a decent drop curve?

What about drop curve from a lefty to righty or righty to lefty, breaking to the back foot of hitter? Do you think that is an effective pitch against good hitters? I am under the impression that it is a very effective pitch as it breaks across the swing plane, but have no experience as my girls...
